Well, I sure wish they were selling them for $200 again like they were when all the agencies that were using them turned them in. I totally missed out on those deal days.. Like those slick tops.

Amazing, and very interesting story. One of my brother's and I were speaking just the other day, how he wished he had kept his duty revolver. No doubt your snubby imparts a special value, that money can't buy. And the favorite in your collection speaks volumes!
Oh, by the way, he sold his 6" Python also, and when I told him what they sell for today, he gasped! Haha!

Yeah, well you can still get them for $300, and they just make great guns for home defense, plinking, training, etc. You're not out of a lot of money, so they can be a project gun, as well.
Really nice to see other's love this .38 special, that much of law enforcement entrusted their lives with. A real work horse!

Very nice! Love your handle BTW! Couldn't ID it in my SCSW4, but I'm on the learning curve.
My 64 (1Dxxxxx) is the "sister" gun to yours, an exact dupe from 1977, IIRC. Finished very poorly, seemingly with ground glass in the action, it had to go back to the factory. Returned in fine shape, pre-timed, and with the usual K-frame cop gun smoothness. Now that I think of it, gotta get it out to the range, "clear it's throat." Stay safe, partner.

VaTom, add me to the original owners list but three years your junior. But for the factory installed carbon deposits on the cylinder mine remains unfired though carried for many years more than I care to dwell on.

So your 4" is 70-71, the original and probably the most desireable from a collection standpoint. I can't figure out your 2" except to guess 64-4 or earlier.
4"= D554xxx-1973-74
2" NY-1 BEK 06xx- 1989 1 of about 500 or so. This gun was wholesaled out of an outfit in Pa, never went to NYPD apparently. Joe

Bought this M64-3 (factory test fired only) a few years back from our very own enraged gorilla.
Sat on it for a while, & ended up selling it (still unfired), to to a fella' w/ more sense - then me.
As you can see, it turned out to be a pretty fair shooter...

The 64 Club is alive and well, thank you all for sharing those beauties! I see where all the 3"ers have been horded (lol). GCF, looks to be a great shooter alright!
This is my other 64-3 that I had engraved with my son's badge and the grips were crafted by Keith Brown.
The checkering is pre war style with post war medallions and speed loader cuts on both sides.
