My model 64 - Let's see yours!

Well, I sure wish they were selling them for $200 again like they were when all the agencies that were using them turned them in. I totally missed out on those deal days.. Like those slick tops.

My Model 64. (Have posted before) Purchased new 41 years ago for $145 for off duty concealed carry. Never a problem with it. Very accurate for a snub nose. Still my favorite gun in collection.

Amazing, and very interesting story. One of my brother's and I were speaking just the other day, how he wished he had kept his duty revolver. No doubt your snubby imparts a special value, that money can't buy. And the favorite in your collection speaks volumes!:)

Oh, by the way, he sold his 6" Python also, and when I told him what they sell for today, he gasped! Haha!

This Model 64 may be one of just a few, or possibly unique.

Yeah, well you can still get them for $300, and they just make great guns for home defense, plinking, training, etc. You're not out of a lot of money, so they can be a project gun, as well.

Really nice to see other's love this .38 special, that much of law enforcement entrusted their lives with. A real work horse!

My 64 (1Dxxxxx) is the "sister" gun to yours, an exact dupe from 1977, IIRC. Finished very poorly, seemingly with ground glass in the action, it had to go back to the factory. Returned in fine shape, pre-timed, and with the usual K-frame cop gun smoothness. Now that I think of it, gotta get it out to the range, "clear it's throat." Stay safe, partner.

VaTom, add me to the original owners list but three years your junior. But for the factory installed carbon deposits on the cylinder mine remains unfired though carried for many years more than I care to dwell on.

This might be a good subject for a poll: How many original owners-what gun...

I should have added a poll for owners of classic 'pinners'.

So your 4" is 70-71, the original and probably the most desireable from a collection standpoint. I can't figure out your 2" except to guess 64-4 or earlier.

4"= D554xxx-1973-74
2" NY-1 BEK 06xx- 1989 1 of about 500 or so. This gun was wholesaled out of an outfit in Pa, never went to NYPD apparently. Joe

Bought this M64-3 (factory test fired only) a few years back from our very own enraged gorilla.

Sat on it for a while, & ended up selling it (still unfired), to to a fella' w/ more sense - then me.

As you can see, it turned out to be a pretty fair shooter...

I just shot my collection of 64's this morning.

The one in the middle is posted in the for sale forum. Great simple guns that serve many purposes for the average user.

I call the 4", "the patrolman", and the 2", "the detective".

I had that same gun until my son decided it should be his. It now resides 900 miles from me.
