Just bought a new 686 3 inch to keep my 686 6 inch company.
Can't wait to go shoot it.

Enjoy that little tank! IMO the 3" 686 is probably the best all around .357 magnum ever made.

I have several nice revolvers (I finally hit double-digits in S&W's!) but the 686 Plus is the one I consider the Queen of the Stable. Sometimes she wears fancy checkered walnut, other times she puts on Goodyears and gets down and dirty, but she always looks good, and shoots better than I do. Hard not to love a gun that wears such classic lines so well, and even makes YOU look good!

Congrats on buying what is to me a most excellent revolver.

I have the same gun and it's a dream to shoot.

I have a 686-6 Plus which has been an excellent revolver. Aesthetically, I am not too fond of the factory rubber stocks, but must admit these are perfect when shooting stout .357 Magnum ammunition.

During the colder winter months I sometimes carry my 686 with these Eagle Grips "Secret Service" stocks.

Value?

I have one of these I'm thinking of selling, would like opinions on what it's worth. It's a 686+, 3 inch that has the fish scale finger groove grips, box and all original issue stuff, with less than 100 rounds through it. Anyone care to help me set a price?

About 3 weeks ago I found a like new in the box 3" 686 in a small gun into south central michigan for $600. for what it's worth do you take plastic?

After reading great reviews on the CS-1 686 357s, I was thrilled to find a relatively new 3 inch 686 in great shape at a gun show last month. Was looking for a M60 3 in kit gun, but am really happy with the 686 - handles recoil better, is easy to carry, is amazingly accurate, trigger is super and just looks great. This one will be around awhile.
