My question is have anyone had their Shield’s slide safety engaging by accident.

Nope, I put my safety off 3 years ago and it hasn't been on since. If the no safety had been available when I bought my Shield I would have opted for that.

Never use the safety on my Shield 9 and my 45 does not have one... looks like most Shields don’t have a safety now and no Glock has a thumb safety. Just not a problem.

My Shield 45 is very new and very "tight". It's very hard to engage the safety so I don't expect it will happen accidently. I am a fan of the safety 'cus I spent many early years owning/shooting 1911's and the sweep motion is fairly normal for me. As someone said in this thread - if your gun has it, use it, train with it, and you will never be surprised by it.

As others have mentioned, it is not a problem. I have carried the Shield for several years and the safety never has accidentally engaged.

I do recall one or two members report (a few yrs back), that their thumb safety did engage/disengage (I don't recall which) on its own, but when asked for details, it turned out that it was due to a poorly fitting holster (rubbed at the thumb safety ?).

It seemed that when the wearer twisted a certain way, the holster rubbed the safety enough to switch it. After either adjusting the fit, or changing holsters, the 'problem' went away.
imagine that! :)
