Naming Contest is on

once in a while the IFC cable channel has the unedited version but it is rare. I think the edited version would be enough to get it blacklisted

I suggest we re-name everything for a Native American that's currently named after any White man in honor of my Native American ancestors...Everything including cities, states, forts, etc. including the United States of America... How about the United states of Geronimo? Red Cloud? Sitting Bull? Cochise?
Sarcasm of course but no more ridiculous than what the leftist stooges currently want.

Since the protestors are following Communistic ways, why not use the Communist naming method - All of their facilities have numbers? Fort Benning becomes Army Fort 327 or Andrews Air Force Base becomes Air Base 23?

This is sad that they even consider doing this! Erase our history to satisfy a land of worthless crybabies.
These men of the Confederacy were of the United States, and were mostly graduates of West Point. A war that put Brother against Brother!
These men were worth more to this country, even dead then these worthless cretons are and ever will be.The idea that these worthless people have the nerve to want their statues and their names removed.
I can’t believe that the powers to be bend over for these people, quite frankly simply said they should just be told to booger off!
I just despise the ruination of our country and it’s history, you don’t like it leave!;)

You are so right, it is history and history is what makes up the world.

This would be like trying to deny your linage. These things are what makes America great and makes her what she is. If you do away with any part of it you have the same as denied your heritage. The many blended heritages and cultures in this country are part of what make it the greatest country in the world.

You may see it as sarcasm.

But in contrast to Lee or Pickett, Red Cloud actually won his war against the US Army, the only Plains leader to do so. Didn’t have to break any oaths either.

Certainly a prouder part of our nation’s fighting heritage.

One of these things is not like another. Lee, Jackson, Hill, Pickett, etc. didn't leave their native land, they fought for what they believed the United States should be. At the end of the war, former Confederate combatants re-gained US citizenship. That would not, in a billion, billion years, be the case with your example.

Not only that, but if I remember correctly, former Confederate general, General William Cox, went on to serve in the House of Representatives. So did Confederate General Joseph Wheeler. And didn't Cox serve as Secretary to the Senate at one time? There was also Charles S. Thomas, a former Confederate, who served as a Senator from Colorado in the 1880's. There were others, too, who went on to serve in the Senate and Congress. And John Singleton Mosby, of the infamous Mosby's Raiders, later served as Grant's campaign manager in Virginia.

I think we'll find that while many of these individuals fought for what they believed the United States should be, they also became loyal citizens after the final outcome of the war.

It makes no sense.

Yes, none of this makes much sense.
The liberal children educated by the "system" we have all been funding (forced through taxes) have finally come out of their parents basement. They have put down their toys and come out into the sunlight, and now we get a chance to see what we have been nurturing for decades. Their views have been dangerously slanted by the education that we all paid for, and by proxy approved of. There is no respect for God and Country. Many today want to re-write a history that they really do not understand in the first place. This did not all happen over night; it took decades, and it happened on our watch.
Perhaps we should also do something to fix it. Or should we just throw our hands up in the air and give up?
Contact your elected officials and voice your opinions! This would include all local mayors, council members, State and Federal elected officials - right on up to the top. If you and I do not voice our opinions in a civil logical manner, we are guaranteed not to have a voice in all of this. So, express yourself, and vote when the time comes. And, importantly, know what you are voting for, and why.
One thing I will be asking for is a mandatory period of service to our country in any military branch or social program for a period of at least three years by all able bodied citizens. That just may develop some national pride and sense of service and duty to the Country that has provided more opportunity than any known through written history. I am proud of the decade that I served my country. It made me grow up. And the gangs on the street need to grow up. If I can, anyone can..... but seems like they need a nudge to do it. (Ok, off my box now.)

I know this thread has pretty much run its course, but another thought has occurred to me.
Has anybody even considered the logistics of renaming these bases? You'd have to change everything from signage to stationary. Not to mention the states would have to change a bunch of road signs. The cost would be in the millions, maybe billions.
All because some snowflake feels offended?

I've never really understood why US military bases were named after Confederates. Seems a bit odd to me. Yeah, I know most of them served in the US military before secession, but still.

I think I'm okay with them changing the names if that's what they decide to do.

And before you ask, yes, I'm a native Texan and VERY conservative.

Back in WW1 and WW2 the Yankee Army came South to train. The namings of the Camps and Forts was intended as a sop to the Democrat-Communist-KKK-Antifa party of the day so as to hide the invasion.

I can sleep at night, because none of this is my fault. If any of my kids tried going off to college and dyed their hair blue, gotten facial piercings, drove a Subaru with a bernie sticker on the back, and worked a perceived living wage job because that's all their useless degree was worth...I would have horse whipped them...and they knew it.
