Naval rank question

The AF PIs that I have worked with all seemed to do their work extremely well.
They all knew what Country they were in and what was their Military Grade/Rank.

No, the only question is why the guy who painted the design on the cup put the diamond on top instead of in the open space between the stripes. I knew the fellow who owned the cup and he was was in the Air Force, and he was legit. I have just never learned all the complicated patterns... here is a chart of all of them... including officer and enlisted ranks and ratings....

What are the three NCO ranks on the lower right? Presumably Sgt. Major and two higher, the last being Sgt. Major of the AF?

But I never heard of a USAF Sgt. Major when I was in back in the 1960's. The highest NCO rank I knew of was Chief Master Sgt., with two upward chevrons.

But in Les's chart, you see the First Sgt. diamond where it belongs, in the blue field between those stripes.

Could that last be the Chief Master Sgt. of the AF ? And the one just prior maybe a Command Chief Master Sergeant? (TAC, ADC, etc.)

I've noted in music videos that bandsmen seem to get rank awfully fast compared to most others.

Plenty of stories of Brig. Generals in USA, USAF, and even USMC saluting a Rear Admiral (Lower Half) because they wear two stars even though they really only rate 1. Never saw it happen myself but heard lots of stories over the years.

How do you know which "half" of an admiral you're seeing?

Hopefully , most don't behave like a lower half! :D

Seriously, I can see why they'd feel important getting to wear two stars as a lower half, but don't they feel frustrated when they get promoted to Upper Half and still only get to wear two stars?

And how many ships would a Commodore command before he had a fleet and would be in the position of an Admiral? I guess a flotilla is a small fleet, just several ships?

The only one star Navy officers I have seen were in the medical. Had two of them show up at Dover Port Mortuary during Desert Storm.
BTW, since I could blow a Boatswain's pipe, my CO, Capt.(4 strips) SEL had me pipe them on board.... LOL! :)

Once met a really interesting AF E7 , MSGT. Papasan Lee.
Papasan was the interpreter at Panmunjom Korea peace talks.
The North was speaking Chinese on their side of the table and Korean across the table.
Papasan speaks both.
The North figured out that somebody on our side was hearing their private Chinese discussions.
And it was probably Papasan.
So they started insulting him in Chinese.
Papasan didn't take it well and finally challenged a North Korean Colonel to a gun fight. Bring your handgun and be on the 38th parallel at high noon.
Our senior negotiator who was an Admiral who fired Papasan.
He said you can't do that Papasan!
Papasan replied they are pissing me off Admiral!
They are pissing everybody off, but we need to stay cool.
Hello, AF, do you have any interpreters who arent want to be gunfighters?
Not sure if the Admiral was upper or lower, but he was in charge.
