Hi all,

I'm currently debating if i want to go through on a trade i had planned. I have several m1 garands already and ordered one more field grade from the CMP that i had planned on trading for a polish underfolder AK47 including several magazines. I'm now having second thoughts.

I received the rifle yesterday and after looking it over i feel split on if i want to part with it now. I already had 4 garands and the trading the last would be mostly for enjoyment at the range, but i'm now wondering if i should go through with it? Would i be a sucker to trade a field grade springfield m1 garand in the 3.8m sn range with a circle p marked stock for a polish underfolder ak47?

Thoughts?

AK's will be around forever, Garands on the other hand are getting harder to get every day. (I seem to remember when we thought Garands would be around forever). Personally I'd prefer the Garand over the AK.

What would a polish underfolder be worth though? My CMP price for the field grade garand was 550, given i did have to wait 3-4 months to receive it. Seems to me that it would be at least worth that?

I just keep getting this sick feeling of kicking myself 10-15 years down the road when the garand supplies dwindle in the cmp and the values skyrocket through the roof. I know at that point the ak47 will be worthless...

My main debate is this:
is variety of having a different gun to take to the range worth the long term value hit i will probably take?
And secondly, i understand that assault rifles may still be banned in California at very least. With those two items said, it may restrict my option for even getting an AK47 down the road . Thinking the grandfathering in might be worth the cost of 1 less garand...

Also not to mention long guns requiring govt. registration in 2014(which i'd prefer not to take part of if i could help it)

I find it hard to picture myself saying any movie quotes while faced with a break in. Movie "coolness" aside...its up to you. I did and have zero regrets.

I had an avg Garand, good accuracy BUT, for me, too expansive to feed, parts are harder to find and more expansive, very ammo specific (3006 Garand ONLY). It have NO sentimental value to me. Overall it was only good for popping of a few rounds at a range that only allows bench rest shooting. So basically i had a lot of money tide up in something i almost never use. I sold it and got something else that i do use and train with.

that would be SB 374

Have not kept up on the news on this, but last i heard it was already passed...

That appears to be a CALIFORNIA state bill (no surprise there).

I dont think there is anyway on God's green earth I would consider trading a Garand for an AK. That AK is a parts gun no matter what. It is a parts kit slapped together on a US receiver.

There isn't even any discussion here as far as I am concerned....it is a poor trade.

If the trade is your M1 for the AK, 20 magazines, 2000 rounds of non corrosive ammo, and $1000.00 cash, then the answer is yes, otherwise, nope

If I could still shoot iron sights my Garand would be my go-to rifle each and every time.

If you go to the AK generations of American GIs will rise up from their graves and slap you up beside the head.
