Need advice: Should i trade a M1 Garand for an AK47?

Let me modify my question a bit to this:

Is a polish underfolder AK47 with a couple mags and dros + lock covered with 1000 rounds wear on the barrel worth $550?

Im rather utilitarian in my view point.
Lets see group size of both rifles at 400 meters

Hi all,

I'm currently debating if i want to go through on a trade i had planned. I have several m1 garands already and ordered one more field grade from the CMP that i had planned on trading for a polish underfolder AK47 including several magazines. I'm now having second thoughts.

I received the rifle yesterday and after looking it over i feel split on if i want to part with it now. I already had 4 garands and the trading the last would be mostly for enjoyment at the range, but i'm now wondering if i should go through with it? Would i be a sucker to trade a field grade springfield m1 garand in the 3.8m sn range with a circle p marked stock for a polish underfolder ak47?

Thoughts?

One word reply: No.

If it's a Chinese norinco or polytech ak 47 I would jump on it. Or if it's an arsenal built on a saiga platform I'd think about it. The ak47 is a hoot to shoot. The 7,62x39 ammo is still cheap.

I would never part with my Chinese norinco m14s. With its 5100 forged steel receiver/bolt plus it's chrome lined bore and chamber.

But for a polish ak 47 there better be some $$$ with it. We don't trade gold(garand) for castiron(polish ak).

Thank you all very much for taking the time to post. I think you have convinced me to keep my m1 garand. I may ask the seller what price he'd take for it, otherwise no deal.

Appreciate the time! :)

Me too! Lets see the Garand operate in any conditions without maintenance and take anything but the 150gr Garand ammo

My friend's 400 yards AK74. Sorry didnt have the 47 that day. Iron sights off hand

I wouldn't trade my only Garand (if I had one) for a Polish UF, but a spare one for a new Arsenal SLR107, SAM7R, or similar quality AK, maybe. The AK47 is more fun, and considerably cheaper to shoot.

You've got 4 Garands already, right? The value of an item is based on what a party feels it is worth. The AK will be a nice gun that will use relatively inexpensive ammo and is easy to fix. You decide if it is something you want or not. Asking somebody else if they would do it is sort of like asking somebody else's opinion on your girl....who cares?

Heck if you do not trade to him. Ill give you 2!!!! Underfold chinese AK's for it. And laugh the entire time. ILL THROW IN A RABBIT!. :-D

Ill also think your the craziest person on earth for trading me a M1 Garand for 2 Ak's. I've got 6.......Bring it on over and we'll barter :-D

By the time you get to my post, my opinion won't matter but I say NO. Buy the AK, sure, trade an M1, no.

The AK and what was the boot ?? AK and a new Benz, AK and a semi of 22lr? Garand for an AK straight up.....ah no!

Just read title and had to skip to reply. Hell NO. Look aks are $300 guns m1s are art. Only a market twisted by politics could make you think they are close to the same value.
