An acquaintance has offered me the following:
a model 36 (no dash) 3" that has a few 'blemishes' but is otherwise nice and tight and totally original for $275. a model 63 (no dash) with factory combat grips (no fingergrooves) and is at least 95%, for $325.

Those seem like pretty fair prices, don't they?

I'd gladly buy either, depending apon how bad the damage is. I would consider both CCW pieces, and not subject to crying over if they get "hurt".

The 36 has a little blue worn off at the muzzle and a few spots where the blue is gone but no pitting in the metal. The 63 is a typical stainless piece with nothing that couldn't be easily removed with a little polishing. I have offered a nice Browning BL 92 .44 mag lever action rifle in trade and he said he would 'think about it'.

Probably wants the cash. Keep it all. The Browning, the Chief and the 63. $600 well worth the price. You could offer $500 for the both, but you'd need to wear a mask if you do!
