I found one at a local show. I did not know what it was but it was mechanically in good shape and locked up tight so I brought it home. It had home made square grips. When I got the grips off, I realized that it had a round butt and the action was different from my other K frames, even the old ones. A little time with Jinks' book revealed what it was. Very cool.

The trigger return spring was replaced with a long replacement spring instead of the short pinned original, I assume that these are no longer available. ( see Pic). The rear sight blade and one of the rear windage adjustment screws are missing.

The sight blade base is threaded for 48 tpi and the screws are a non standard diameter. (0.103). A 3-48 screw (diameter 0.099)screws right in but feels loose. A 4-49 screw (diameter 0.112) is too big to go in. I wanted to fabricate a replacement screw so I used a 4-48 adjustable die and squeezed it in a die stock. 4 passes tightening the diestock holding screws a little each time reduced a 4-48 screw to a major diameter of 0.104 which screws in easily but is not loose.

The slot for the rear sight blade just allows a 0.025 feeler gauge. In order to make a replacement rear blade, I need to know the height of the original blade. Will someone with one of these old revolvers please measure the height of the rear sight blade from the top of the holding slot to the top of the sight blade and measure the depth of the rear notch. with these measurements I can make a new rear blade.
Thanks
CAB

Welcome to the forum. Nice work. I don't have one to measure, sorry. But if you start a new thread with a title that includes your need for the rear sight blade dimensions, I suspect you'll catch the attention of those that can help you.
