I have a generous supply of Bullseye powder and 230 grain cast round nose bullets. I am going to be loading for my M&P 45. Just looking for a fun, plinking, tin can load. For those of you that have used these components, what powder charge seems to work best for you? Thanks for your help.

I use within a few .tenths of grains of their lower end on the chart, and it is accurate AND pleasant in both 1911s and 625-8 for plinking & range matches. Good choice IMHO.....I only recently came to enjoy Bullseye, as it's always smelled funny to me.

I use 4.5 grns of Bullseye with a 230 grn LRN. This is my plinking load for my 625. It may not cycle your auto but a good place to start.

The boys at Camp Perry still use Bullseye and I'm not good enough to hold their holsters so it's good enough for me.

5.0 grains in my Colt 1911 is the ticket although you can take it up another 0.5 without fear.

YMMV

I have shot many 1000's of 45 a.c.p.'s with either a 230 gr. hardball or a cast 225 gr. roundnose with 4 grs. of Bullseye with excellent accuracy for a few decades now!

5 grains with that bullet has been a standard load forever. In fact, with a jacketed bullet, that was the original service charge, as I recall.

4 Grains of Bullseye with a 230 LRN works fine for me in a 1911 and 625. 5 Grains with a 230 Gr. FMJ is the GI load.

4.5 grains of bullseye with a 230 grain LRN bullet works perfect for me. It is extremely accurate and will cycle in my SW1911 & a couple of Kimber's, my 625-4 model of 1989, my 25-2, 1917/37 brazilian contract, my Governor, the list goes on. Honestly, it has become my favorite powder for 45 acp.

For FMJ, I use 4.8 or 5.0 (depending on my mood) & both work great. I have shot thousands of 230 grain FMJ hardball reloads with this powder. I also use it for 38 SPL and literally love it in everything I load with it. For my $0.02, you can't go wrong with this as long as you are careful, as with any reloading.
See you all at the range ... :)
