After 7 weeks and two 66's I was able to pick up my new 66 tonight. The first was sent back by dealer because the the front site was not pinned correctly he told me there was an 1/8" gap between bottom of site and top of barrel. He said he could not believe it got through Smiths QC. I waited another 9 days but I'm glad he sent it back. I like the fit and finish of this 66 and the trigger is not bad but it's not as smooth as my 617 I'll have to put some rounds down the 66 before I make judgement. After reading a post on this forum about finding a holster I'm glad to report that my El Paso Saddlery Stongside Select for my 4" 617 fits like a glove , one less thing to worry about . I'll post some pictures soon. Thanks

congratulation on the new piece.

If this is your first multi-part barrel revolver, I think you will find it surprisingly accurate.

I have a 340 sc but I don't think that counts :) 2 Piece but a little short. Colt_saa I hope you are right about that.

If I'm wrong please correct me but are the Dan Wesson multi length barrel set ups two piece? I remember a close relative of mine had this set-up with four different barrel lengths and it shot really well but I could be wrong I was youngster at the time.

You're right -- the DW's were two piece with the added bonus that the user could tension and set barrel-cylinder gap themselves.

hope this helps

Thank you! I saw one a few weeks ago and the crown was awful. Like if you put your thumb on the end of the barrel and twisted your thumb it would've tore your thumb up.
Yours however looks like the craftsmanship I expect from S&W! This makes me feel better about the remake! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the nice pics! I have a friend who loves shooting my 66-4. He's about to buy one of the new 66's. Can't wait to try it out. I may have to update my collection as we..
