I was originally gonna get a 627 PC but decided to get this guy instead. Not disappointed in the least. Can't wait to take her to the range this weekend.

Here's a few more pics. The hogue bantams fit like a dream on this and would be great for concealment if one were to carry this guy. The front sight is very easy to pick up as well.

Disclaimer: gun was not loaded during photos. I just threw a moon clip in for that last shot.

Beautiful piece. I have the 627 and love it. All of my revolvers have wood on them. Im not a fan of rubber, but I have to admit, those bantams look awesome on that gun. Congrats.

I really wish hogue would make these style grips in wood. I'd love to get a set in coco bolo or rosewood. The only bantam size grips I ever see them offer in wood for K/L frames are similar to the J frame bantams (no pinky).

That 686 is on my next to buy list. I'm not a big fan of unfluted cylinders but I'll make an exception in this case. Congrats on your purchase.

I am on the horns of a dilemma!

I am currently trying to decide between the 686+ PC and the 640 Pro....
It would be a winter carry, OWB pancake at 4 o'clock most likely... The 640 offers the option of coat pocket carry which i believe the bulk of the 686 would preclude. The 640 also benefits from not having an IL while the 686 does-- correct?

Any sage advice from my esteemed colleagues?

Well you have lit the fire under me for the 686 PC version. So I just called my lgs and asked them to put a "will buy" order in the books for me. That is a lot easier than dropping in every few days to see if there is one in the case.

I doubt I will enjoy it any more than my 686-4 in 4" barrel. That is the tops! Sweet shooter.

I can stop whenever I want to. I just don't want to. :D

Word of warning: this one had light primer strikes on my reloads. They were CCI 500's which are pretty hard primers from what I understand. I'm taking about 4 different SD loads and cheap range ammo to the range tomorrow to verify reliability. Will report back on this after.

There's another thread going where a guy was having the same issues. He claimed to have tried several brands of ammo with about 50% failure rate. Just figured I'd give you a heads up about that.

Yes that would be me, unfortunately decided to get a 686-6 with 4" barrel instead. I think the PC piece is a beauty and I fell in love with it when I laid my eyes on it. Just make sure the timing is good for all 7 cycles and mine had light primer strikes with 3 different brands of ammo. I've even tried expensive defense loads by Hornady. I'm sad to give it up, but I won't keep a piece that won't go bang with less than 100 rounds in them. Just inspect them well first!!

I saw one of those at a dealer about 2 weeks ago, they wanted $979+ tax.
I'm holding out for the rarely seen 627-5, Bloodwork II

Funny you mention that. I'm looking to replace mine with a 4" 686 or 66 if this one doesn't shoot well tomorrow.

Let me know how it works out, try slow trigger pulls.

The light strikes can probably be fixed with a $20 extended firing pin,A lot of the new .357 PC Guns suffer from this issue.Kinda sad for a premium top of the line offering :(

That's my way of telling them to put out a quality product, it's a stunning piece. They did an amazing job as far as looks, but it should go bang every time PERIOD!! No excuses!!! It is a revolver, and that's why I like revolvers. And especially an icon like Smith and Wesson, my message to smith is to improve quality control, make sure customers like us get our monies worth. Heck, I am more than willing to pay a premium if indeed that is what I'm getting. Longer Pin!! They should know that is needed if It was tested properly!!
