Been a shooter since 1992. My first gun was a pre model 10 Military & Police.
I paid $110 for it and later on traded it in on a 686 which I later traded on the 629 Classic I still own. I hope to replace the M&P and the 686 someday but prices are insane now.
I actually carried that 629 inside the waistband "Mexican" style for most of a year. It was nice to work in a store that encouraged employees to carry on the job.
I finally realized this wasn't optimal for all situations and wound up with a Ruger SP101 to compliment the 629.
After returning to college and getting a degree I branched out into other things. Bought a Charles Daly 1911 and a NAA Guardian .380 for something lighter than the SP101 to carry in the Summer.
I also picked up a 2.5" barreled 66 and designated it as my wife's gun but she's complained a bit about its bulk so we're trying to find a small auto she likes. Bought a used Besa Thunder .380 recently that shows potential for that role. I also have the ulterior motive of reclaiming the 66 to carry if I can ever find the time to take up hiking like I want to. She wouldn't ever shoot .357 in it anyway.
I found the forum through a web search on SW9VE. I just couldn't resist the rebate deal and picked one up the last week of 2009.
There's a funny story of how I got there. I had never considered owning a 9MM but a co-worker had a good deal on a Glock 19 that I couldn't pass up so in May 2009 I had my first 9MM. Then at the end of Summer another co-worker was looking to sell a CZ 75B. I traded him a Remington 870 Express Synthetic with a 20" rifle sighted barrel for it. I feel a bit guilty for that since I had so little in the shotgun. I just hope I can replace the 870 without too much increased cost.
Shortly after that trade is when I started seeing the rebate deal and Academy Sports kept putting them on sale for $299. I wound up missing the sale and paid $319 but it was still a bargain.
Since the Sigma is such a copy of the Glock I decided I'd sell it to raise money for a compact .45 ACP. Was leaning hard toward a Glock 36 but wound up buying a used Taurus PT745.
I never thought I'd own another new S&W. I was a slightly less than rabid member of the "S&W must die" crowd after the HUD agreement. But once Tompkins sold it I sort of arrived in the same place Dean Spier did: The Gun Zone RKBA -- Updating the S&W/HUD Mess
So, sorry for the longish intro. Looking forward to having this sight feed my S&W addiction (SWMBO will probably be less than pleased). At this point I'm waiting on a friend to get back to me about what his "good deal" price is for a model 28-2 he's offered to sell me.
