New guy with Old S&W

Well, the prospective buyer believes the pistol has been refinished. I am very surprised by this information due to the gun being owned by a non shooter for the last 40 years.
How can I find out definitively ?

THAT GUN IS NOT REFINISHED.
Besides all the other telltale signs;
still in original box,
original old finish flaking of the blue in places which can't be faked,
factory polishing patterns under the bluing,
no evidence of repolishing on sharp edges,
no obvious wear,
original color case hardening on hammer, trigger and extractor rod knobs,
almost pristene stocks,
no factory rework stampings, etc., etc.,
notice the two pins on left side of frame are still domed or rounded. Those are always flattened if not finished at the factory! It's clearly a righteous gun to anyone who knows anything about old Smiths.

No need to say more except to pass this on to your prospective buyer. If not convinced pass on him and find a knowledgeable buyer.

I have the gun back now and am in the process of re posting it for sale. Thanks to Hondo44 and the members who PM'd me and provided me great information.
