I've just seen my first info on the gun. 🥰 I've wanted one since they were first introduced...in the '80s, I think. All I've seen lately are the ad pieces done by Lipseys.
The price locally is $1120, and I could buy it, but wonder if buying a first generation revolver without waiting for the new product manufacturing glitches to be remedied is a wise thing? Do Lipsey's guns somehow have better QC than Smith & Wesson? I'm probably dreaming, but might the MSRP be lowered by waiting?
What say, Smith & Wesson Gurus?

I would doubt a Lipseys gun would be built better or worse than any other production gun, IMO. I have no evidence of this aside from looking at them every few years.

I have a couple of "no-dash" models & have no desire to move up on the dates with them. Semi's might be a different story as they're filled with moving parts that have to mesh together for it to run. Some semi's never seem to reach that point. The Remington R51 comes to mind on that.

If you're waiting on MSRP to come down, you might be in for a looooooooooooooong wait, IMO.

S&W distributor exclusives are mostly just regular production line guns. No better, no worse. Performance Center revolvers might be an exception to this.

The new MG revolvers aren't limited production items, so long as gun stores keep ordering them from Lipsey's, Lipsey's will keep ordering them from S&W. It took ~4-6 months for the UC revolvers to get aggressive price reductions from dealers, but my understanding is that aluminum J-frames are the revolvers that S&W is most equipped to crank out at scale. With the MG revolvers, the outsourced grips might be the item that limits production rate.
