Just picked up this sleeper of a .38 special....scandium frame, Ti pins, carbon steel cylinder. The perfect J frame. Awesome trigger and shoots like its on guided missle mode. Looks like a limited run so get them while you can.

Just noticed in my search that it weighs 15.4 oz? Kinda heavy for an unobtainium frame if that's correct. It's got an IL, hammer spur and weighs more than my 642-1.

Naw, I'll pass too. But if it makes you happy - More power to ya!

These are going to be the Model 27, 3 1/2" of the the future.

I saw one of these too, without the lock on it as I recall...at a place in north Orlando last year when I was down there...they were out of stock when I called back.

I think this is a good score on a good gun.

What is the six digit product code item number on the end of the box please? Also the four digit "Spec Order" code also would be helpful in to see if it is one of the "limited" ones that may be very scarce- before they were listed as a semi-production item.

If I am correct, those first 360J's have a different product code.

160360, weight on the box shows 13, not 15.
Does8116 sound like the spec order code?

its got the lock unfortunately. I was surprised it was scandiun frame, as there are no marking or labels to say so. Got a sleeved barrel and just looks and handles great. its what all Airweights should be.

Yes, that Spec Ord. date is correct.
You have a late model 360J.

You can tell when the gun was made by looking at the "Spec Ord" date- it is a "Julian Date."
"8116" translates into the 116th day of 2008- or roughly about Mid April of this year. However, not all S&W's go by this code, so it isn't a hard and fast rule, but the majority of their product does.

Now, you are more educated on this than most people that do field work for S&W!
