New tire$

Our truck needed new tires and at first I was upset because I have bought the Nitto Ridge Grapplers only 4yrs ago.

But then I realized they've safely driven us around for over 73,000 miles and I think that is remarkable.

We had our fair share of pavement (all different kinds of conditions), dirt road, mud, snow, ice and even an accident. Not to mention the sun continuously blasting their rays onto them both in OK and now TX.

The threat is beat up, uneven and even punctured. But thanks to having bought LT tires they did neither deflate nor burst. One spot is even as smooth as a baby's butt, but the overall threat is still good (see picture). Should have gotten another alignment.

So when it was time to order new ones, of course, we went with Nitto again. This time I wanted to try the new Recon Grapplers and I hope they'll be just as great as the Ridge Grapplers. 10ply of course. An alignment will follow, that's for sure.

Huge thank you to Discount Tire and the crew here. Overnight delivery and early appointment (1 day early!!), in and out in less than 45 minutes.

That's the way to go!

Was there evidence of dry rot on the sidewalls after four years? For sure, we have to ditch pretty much any tire in Vegas after six years because the sidewalls are toast.

LT tires are fine if you have a vehicle of the appropriate weight. However, many people slap them on SUVs almost as a knee-jerk, only to find that all they really did was hose up the ride. That was certainly the case on my Isuzu Rodeo.

Yeah, the sun just keeps beating on them and it's terrible. Our cars don't park in the garage, they are outside 24/7/365 hell or high water.

I believe if they would not have been LT's they would have either deflated or we would have had a blow out on the interstate. I wouldn't go back to P rated tires, the ride quality doesn't really suffer with 10ply and your vehicle will be more capable.

Rechecked my tire pressure today.

I previously set the front to 32 psi and the rear to 35 psi after letting the
car sit inside a 65° shop.

It was 38° outside and the car had been sitting for several hours.

Front, 28.4 psi. Rear 32.4 psi.

So I aired them back up to where they should be.
