New to the forum: purchasing first AR15 for husband

Welcome to the forum from Northern CA. Let me help you, find out what the out the door cost of the rifle is, get your husband a gift certificate and turn him lose! If it says in the literature and/or on the rifle that it takes the 5.56 Nato round and the .223 then there's no problem shooting either through it. I have the original M&P Sport and I really like it. There are so many AR15 or M16 clones out there now that trying to get the right one can really drive you nutty. Smith and Wesson makes a great little rifle in their M&P Sport line.

Deniece, A Smith & Wesson M+P Sport II is a great first AR choice. It was my first AR too. Got it back in November 2016. I personally never wanted an AR (evil black gun) I'm a wood and shiny finish gun guy but, the AR's will grow on you. They are a lot of fun to shoot, build, trick out. Have fun let us know.
