I'm nearly 2 months late in posting this but seeing other members post about their family I thought why not.
Me and my wife's only child just graduated in May from Texas A&M with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She's always been full of passion, perseverance, and grit. She never has caused us a minute of trouble her entire life and has always, always done what she was supposed to do. We've been blessed immeasurably. How two parents who never set foot in a college wound up with her baffles me. Her Mom and me were both childless and single and met each other, each of us 32 years old.

Congratulations, you are very blessed. Lord knows we can always use another DVM here in N/E TX. My wife goes at least once maybe twice a week. ( or at least it seems like it) Especially during the foaling regimen. But the little ones are a lot of fun.

Best of luck to your daughter...

Congrats OP. :D
One of the great Professions. DVM.
Plus their kids get to help.
Always ask my boy's DVM wife if long rubber gloves are in her future, now that they live in the Rockies.
Their backyard borders a Cattle and Horse ranch...
so there is hope.

As I recall, the hardest program to get in to is the DVM. Congrats.

Yes, I have read that also, plus once a practicing Vet they need to know what is wrong with the animal as they are not gonna tell you.:)Animals also have a way of covering up what is wrong with them. I always wished I had tried harder to get into Medical field.

My Wife and I enjoy watching the Vet TV shows, There are several good ones. Dr Pol, Dr Oakley and Dr Jeff. Always something different going on.:)

For the OP. does she want to go into large animal or small animal practice.??

Small animal practice. She's nearly a month into a new job at a corporate owned clinic in Dallas that has several clinics in Dallas/Fort Worth and a couple more in other parts of the state. Vets who own their own clinics have been bought out at a rapid pace over the last decade by corporations. They have recruited her heavily over the last year and a half and made her a lucrative offer.

You folks can be very proud of your daughter, and she likewise.
Small animals is where the money is to be made.

I am lucky in that my vet treats all and still makes farm calls if
needed. At one time I used an Equine specialist for my mules and
a lady vet for all other animals. The lady closed her clinic and moved
and the equines guy got to expensive as he does performance horses,
race and rodeo.

Bluetopper,

Spent time with our DVM and her sisters this week.
A Nurse Anesthesiologist and a Pediatric Nurse.
We would all enjoy reading what your daughter wrote for her PhD.

Thanks and no hurry.
