Not sure where you guys are getting your Glock 19s and J frames, but there is a considerable difference in size between mine. And the 19 is like a brick in width.
I'm only taking from my experience with my model 36 snubby. I'll take some pics of them when I get home but when you put one on top of the other they are the same size, more or less. That is to say they take up the same space. Of course the grip angles are different. The glock is more an L shape though. However, the cylinder on the 36 makes it just as thick. Not sure where you guys are getting your Glock 19s and J frames, but there is a considerable difference in size between mine. Dimensions:
Firearm--Glock 19--S&W442
Height---4.99"------4.21"
Width----1.18"------1.31"
Length---7.36"------6.50"
This is with boot grips. Note the J-frame is only roughly 3/4" smaller in height and length. If grips that cover the backstrap and extend below the grip frame are chosen (E.g. Pachmayr), they are practically the same size.
The shape of the revolver really does lend itself better to staying unnoticed, even when printing.

Right! While there is no back part to your 642 it still takes up the same space iwb. Also my 36 is about as heavy as the G19.
This is about the best I could do putting one on top of the other. 642/19. The pic looks like the 642 is forward but it isn't. The muzzles are even.
How about a small mouse gun for a BUG? Seecamp 32 semi-auto or NAA Pug mini revolver. Both are top quality and very capable in the right hands.
