My Dr told me I have about 3 years left to live. Don't brother me a bit because I have had a good life and we all go sooner or later. I placed an order on Amazon on November 1. Looked to see what it would cost to place same order today. In one week the cost of that order has gone up 7.6%. No problem my SS will be up around 3.5% next year. At that rate I will run out of money at about the same time I will run out of life

I have had more things wrong with me over the years than are on most death certificates. Even with all that I feel like I'm in pretty good shape. When I go to my scheduled Drs. appointments he tells me you have this, this, this, and this, but when I grow up I want to be in your shape.

I have cancer and if I do nothing about it I live 3,4 or so more years. I can have it treated and be cancer free and live 4 or 5 more years on dialysis. Rather live the shorter time dialysis free.

Vet said "We need to put your Mom's dog on this heart medication. It's expensive at over $100 per month, but the dog won't live another 3 months."

"Sure, it's the least we can do." I replied.

I think the dog lived 4 more years.

I lost faith in Docs many years back. About 40 some years now. The one I went to diagnosed me for Kidney stones and gave my a prescription for that. Stuff knocked me out for over 24 hours. Went to another doc and found a Hernia. Never went back to the first guy.

My Grandma was so special to me when I was a boy. She passed away when I was in HS. I remember wondering what she meant when she said with a sigh, "There comes a day when you know more people on the far side of Jordan River than you do on this side."

Now I know exactly what she meant.

To quote Hamlet, "the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune" summarizes our life on this mortal globe. On April 3rd of this year I was at my doctor's office for a routine visit , getting the "at a boys" on my health profile, "great numbers" I was told. I left the office in good spirits. Made it to the parking lot and the Mrs. said she wanted me to drive to Sam's Club. OK. I buckled the seatbelt and I thought someone had shot me, the pain was terrific. I drove around to the ER and barely made it to the door. From there my life is a mystery, I have no memory. I woke up on day two to see my family gathered around the bed. I was in "critical care", they didn't think I would make it. I had a spontaneous artery bleed in my left kidney. My "great numbers" were what carried the day, besides I'm an old grizzly bear. As long as there is life there is hope. I saw the "angel of death" but he did not call my name. Doctors are great, but there is a higher power.

I have a friend I use to surf with. He had a massive heart attack in his early 30's. Docs told him he would never live to see 40.

He's 66 now.

I had a friend who's wife was diagnosed with cancer in the early to mid 60s. Given 6 mos. to live. My friend prayed for God to help her. She passed in 2018.

Another rule Willie Nelson has said for years, in his books, is that he wants his money and his life to run out at the same time.

I have learned that the type of aggressive cancer one is afflicted with has a lot to do with how a person decides to proceed with it.

Sometimes the cure is actually worse than the disease as it was in my father's and brother's cases. They both suffered mightily and said "no más".
