I have a Russian, IZH35M Olympic target pistol. I have been shooting it for 18 years, and it is wonderfully accurate. It has started not resetting the trigger. I can push the trigger forward and it will fire, but will not reset in the normal cycle.

Can anyone recommend a gunsmith capable of working on Olympic quality pistols?

Appreciate any recommendations.

I don't remember if it was here or on another forum but these guys came highly recommended for the IZH 35M. They are located in Georgia. I put them in my "favorites" list. Their web page has a "chat" feature. I hope they can help you.
Good shooting;

You might try joining / posting on both the Bullseye-L & Target Talk forums . Many have experience with the Izzy there . Too bad EAA does not support them anymore . They were quite a bargin & shot very well . A bit crude like most Russian guns but had no problems finding the X ring if shooter did their job .

Thanks all so far. I had this gun repaired by Ray at Moss Pawn & Gunsmithing back in December or Jan., and now it is doing the same thing.

Gun is very clean. It is a complex trigger system with adjustments for everything. Gun now has between 15,000 and 20,000 rounds through it, and is still superbly accurate, but I'm wondering if some small parts are beginning to wear and not staying in adjustment. Gun fires fine, but you then have to push the trigger forward to fire again. (that doesn't work in a bullseye match Timed and rapid fire).

I have belonged to the "Target Talk Forum" but don't frequent it. Will try that again also.

Larry Carter passed away a few months ago . Shop has been shut down & family will be liquidating inventory .

I am hopeful the problem has been fixed. Got it to a local non-professional (but talented) part time gunsmith that totally tore it down and discovered some old locktite inside the barrel shroud where the slide passes and it was causing a bind that retarded the action and a bind in the trigger reset bar. I successfully rapid fired a clip full this morning and feel confident it is now O.K. The locktite was evidently from when the previous locksmith re-installed the sight rail and got an excessive amount of locktite on the screws and it had dripped down inside.
