I have the day off today and took the opportunity to go through my NYPD collection. I had not realized there are so many guns in there!!

Anyway, I thought it would be a good idea to maybe put together something a little more informative and definitive on the NYPD Model 64 NY-1.

I',m working on it now and depending on how much time I can get on the computer today, should have something by nightfall or tomorrow.

The subject guns are shown below:

Best,
RM Vivas

Hey welcome to you, this is a great place to visit and contribute!
Robert Vivas is our in house NY-1 expert and he will be contributing soon with a detailed story on the NY-1 series, particularly the Model 64 variant. In the meantime, pick up a copy of the 4th or 5th edition of the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson by Supica and Nahas.
And, while waiting for both, maybe start searching here on the forum. Here's a teaser: Model 64 NY-1

Wow! 😳👍 RM Vivas made an awesome presentation on these and the other NY-1 revolvers at the Annual SWCA Symposium in June in NC. There is quite a story behind them!

A big thank you to Joe (pharmer) for giving me the opportunity to add this never issued NY1 to my collection. It was worth the wait to find this in NOS condition. Communication was great and I made a new friend in the process. thank you !

You're very welcome Rich, a pleasure dealing with you. I might have shot that NY-1 if'n I didn't have this 1970 vintage 10-5 filling that need. Yes, the "Dominican hand carved stocks" are off and the numbered "PC magnas" are back on. Joe
