I saw the Oak Ridge Boys perform on the Huckabee show last night and it brought back a memory of a live concert I saw years ago at the Great Frederick Fair in Frederick, MD. This concert was probably a good 20 years ago. The Oak Ridge Boys were backed up by a 4 piece band, and of course it was a tremendous concert. When their performance was over, the Oak Ridge Boys came to the front of the stage for a curtain call. Then the Oak Boys stepped back and each of them grabbed a member of the band and brought the band members forward to have a curtain call. That just really impressed me to see that the headliners were making sure that the members of the band got a chance to take a bow and be applauded. I've been to a lot of concerts and I have never seen performers bring the band forward to take a bow before or since. The class that the Oak Ridge Boys showed was such a great thing that I remember it after all these years.

I love some of their music but when I saw them in concert years ago in Ozark Alabama I was disappointed, they sung and pointed at each other on stage the show was basically dry,

Two weeks later I saw the Statlers at the same venue, if you could have ever taken in a Sattler bros concert you would understand the meaning of entertainers, they took you through every emotion in their performances, they would have you laughing, crying's and they kept a constant repore going with members of their audience

again I like the Oak Ridge Boys, but in that genre the statlers were the kings

A short side note on that..........

My ol friend Noble Stuart showed up one day with a new Cadillac Seville.
It was silver and black, shiny as could be.

Had one of those cast aluminum vanity plates on the front that
said 'ELVIA' .

I jest said that there's alright there Noble.
He's kinda lookin around like I've got him on the spot.

Noble says, "Ah, the daughter and son-in-law got that for us.
The 'Boys' made a lit'l money on that song and bought us a new car."

Noble's daughter, Norah Lee married Duane (Ace) Allen....

Seen them maybe 20 times, they used to do a yearly New Years Eve show at the former Holiday Star Theatre in Ind, the Mrs and I attended for about 12 years in a row, never a dry show , always a good opening act and a lot of bang for the buck IMO.

I will never understand why posters do this. Never.

Joe Bonzall lives near me. I used to see him in the local gun store from time to time. He writes children's books. Every year, a local realtor has a benefit for the children's hospital in Memphis. Bonzall is usually there donating and signing his books for the children and the auction. A fine fellow in my book!
