Two Lorain, Ohio Police Officers were in a cul-de-sac in an industrial park area sharing a pizza for lunch. A driver in another car in the area opened fire on them with a rifle striking both men. The officers radioed for help and a responding officer was also shot. Other responding officers arrived and shot and killed the gunman, while other officers transported the three officers to the hospital.
One of the officers, who was shot in the head, has died from his wound. Investigation is ongoing as to why the gunman did what he did.

"PARKER'S BACKGROUND

Looking deeper into Michael Parker's past, 3News obtained a civil complaint filed against him in Lorain County Common Pleas Court for an incident that occurred in October of 2022.
The complaint alleged Parker negligently operated a vehicle while driving for the delivery company, Instacart, traveling left of center and "causing a collision" with a motorcycle. The civil case was ultimately settled out of court.
However, Parker was cited for a misdemeanor offense by Lorain police for driving left of center in connection to the incident. Court records reveal Wagner was the police officer who issued the citation." https://www.wkyc.com/article/news/l...arker/95-9645bc81-2f4c-4849-8891-030be367ba90

The only serious, long-term phone threats my family and I received in 21 years were from, we found after an old-school 'phone trap,' a 16 year old I cited for traffic violations on 2 occasions. Not gangbangers; not trafficking 'families,' not felons.

Some people don't take criticism of their driving very well.

All indications- some in open source, some not - is this was a targeted attack. The attacker likely had selected the location ahead of time or had an attack plan developed with desired equipment staged. Lots of discussion going on in squad rooms this week on how to be safest on the streets.

We’ll likely see the terms “lone wolf” and “grievance seeker” batted around in the near future.

A few of the similar previous small arms attacks that come to mind are the Lakewood WA restaurant attack and the Republican’s Congressional Baseball practice in Arlington, VA. Bad guys usually have the upper hand, but aggressive counter attack is potentially the only course of action.

Not sure what's hard to understand about an angry whacko fixating on a known person who he believes did him wrong.
I think it's pretty simple to understand but we also need to remember that could happen to anybody.

A bouncer who put them out of the nightclub.

The security guard that had them Cited for criminal trespass.

The Walmart manager who asked them not to open carry in his store.

And of course the random girl who rejected them at the club

Good and evil. EVIL seems to be in the lead these days. Our beautiful cities are in bad shape. The fabric of society is very loosely woven. I pray for America.

I don't know, some of this perception is down to everything being reported no matter where it happens. Time was when what happened in Podunk, got dealt with in Podunk, and stayed in Podunk.
