I emailed CCI to ask what is going on. A nice rep answered my email within a day. He claimed production is at normal speed and the hoarding problem is what is keeping ammo off the shelves.

He also noted that shows such as History Channel's "Preppers" is adding to the problem since most preppers are advocating having 50,000 to 100,000 rounds of ammo on hand.

All of which makes sense except it begs the point as to where the hoarders and preppers are buying their ammo.
I guess if you have to have that much ammo i can stop calling myself a......lol......prepper:(

Got an order from Lucky Gunner of the Centurion. There were 8 in stock when starting order. When finished, there were 2. Hit refresh, then there were none. I only ordered one. Left some for others.

academy

I've had pretty good luck at academy. They seem to get ammo daily, and there are people getting in line around 6am (store opens at 8am). I've gone a couple times around 8:15 and been able to get a box of 100 and a box of 325. I've seen people walk out with the 1400 rd buckets but you have to get there real early for that. Academy has a limit of 1 box per caliber, so that helps. Also their prices seem to be near normal ($15 for 325). I heard the 1400 rd bucket was ~$60 so that's near $0.04 per round.

I just wish the hoarders would back off and let things get back to normal, that would help a lot with availability.

I think the biggest problem is people buying and then doing a gouged resale. I have seen this in several instances. One time i was in walmart and they had 420 rd cans of lake city 5.56. The guy in front of me was buying his limit of 3 and basically bragging about how he owned a pawn shop and resaleing them. I got last case. He made me mad but that stuff is going on everywhere. It is not just the regular folks buying for themselves....like me cause i am not buying anymore

DozerDave - My boss could not give a **** about ammo. With his income, he does not even have any idea what the price is. He has people for that. Actually got by a Walmart at 8:15 because the snow caused school closings. Already sold out of all 22 they had. Saw 2 guys buying the last of the 9mm. Suppossedly they will not start selling until 9 from now on....

8up - Yep not sure why TN is on the banned list. I did not see NY on it.

Natchez has a wholesale division (Actually I think it is the Wholesale business has Natchez for online/catalog) they don't sell to contiguous states that way they are not competing with the dealers who buy from their wholesale store.

I managed to score a couple of cases of ammo at the sporting goods store this morning. As I was putting it in the trunk of my car, I was approached by an attractive young lady. She struck up a conversation about how she supports the second amendment, loves to go to the gun range, and the like. Then she shocked me by asking if I would be interested in bartering sex for ammo. Once I regained my composure, I said OK, what kind of ammo do you have? She left.

I was able to pick up 750 rounds of CCI AR Tactical for $23 per 375 rounds at palmetto state armory a couple days ago. I got a notification this morning that they shipped.

I used gunbot.net to follow the in stock ammo to grab these boxes.

Don't have a seller if there is no buyer!!!!!

Most likely, the same places you and I do. The difference being preppers are often willing to allocate a larger percentage of what they earn to spend on prep items than perhaps you or I would.

You can say that again, dont get me wrong ive got 7000 rds of M193 5.56 Nato. But I went in with a couple of buddies from our local PD, one owns a gunshop. We did well on price, because we picked it up Dec 3 last year.

Local guy selling centurion for 65 for 500 and they buying it like crazy LOL

the 5000 round stuff at luckygunners is gone took about 50 seconds lol

That ammo went for 14.95 per 500 rds, I payed 29.95 per 500, 60+ per 500 geez are they Gold plated??? Wheres the American made stuff, comeon!!

Those Centurion cases go for 189 retail, wholesale, depending on # of cases go for 130 to 150 during reg times. If your paying 65 for 500 you might be better buying US MADE ammo for same price off gunbroker. Not trying to stir the pot but dont like good peeps getting taken for a ride..
