IMO, S&W is just doing this to try and boost the sales of the Shield once again.
And that's a bad thing, because?

S&W offers buyers a choice. Glock doesn't.

I called it an unsubstantiated rumor and said that I will wait for an official announcement from S&W. While whoever accused him of a hoax may have the burden of proof for said allegation, the OP still has the burden of proof for his claim.
While it would be a nice addition to the M&P lineup, there is still no word from S&W nor anyone who has even seen this vaporware.
No, it's not the same at all. The firing pin on a striker fired pistol isn't "cocked" until the trigger is pressed to the rear with about twice or better the force required to fired a single action 1911 style pistol. A striker fired pistol is much more similar to a double action revolver than to a cocked single action pistol with the safety off.
I don't understand this hatred of safeties...Glocks have ruined a generation of shooters...
Received info today that these will be shipping on/before August 1st.
Not even a whisper (so far) about a Shield45.This will be very good news to many, including me, but I'm wondering if anyone has ever mentioned a single stack Shield 45 that would compete with the XDS? Please tell me there's hope.
In less they come with a more left hand friendly Shield, I will not be getting one.
No not really, a vehicles brakes may wear down to were you might need to apply the emergency brakes on a steep hill to keep it from rolling, A gun will just never fire on it's own unless you alter the guts.

Got our shipment in today!
Holding the gun, it felt slimmer to me than the TS mode. So I got out the calipers and sure enough, it is about 20 thousandths thinner in the rear of the grip. Not a big deal, but you will notice if you own the TS model..
