I have been attending the Florida Armed Security Guard Academy.
Today was Firing Range Qualifications.
The other Students are 18-35 years old. (I am almost 82). The weather was 100 degree and a heat index of 106 degrees. The range was an open field with negative shade.
The qualifications began at 9am. Factory ammo only.
I was using my S&W Model 10-5 5" .38spl (Blued)
The other students were using 9mm semi-automatics (Glock, S&W, HK, Sig-Sauer, Walther)).
The other students and instructors were at a loss on an old gimpy grandfather with an antique revolver.

The day was long and very hot. three students and one instructor passed out from the heat.

Every semi-automatic pistol except Glocks had several malfunctions/jams.
At the end of the day the old guy with the revolver had a perfect score (100%) and the #2 shooter with a Glock had a 98%.

Way to go jimmyj you represent your generation well. Two thugs tried to pick my dads uncles pocket at a local hardware store he was in his seventies .My dad was on duty and got the call .Dad said he got there and uncle Frank had both of them on the ground .He said uncle Frank said I started to put my blade to em but when I saw how young they were I decided to let em live with just a good whipping. They were both in their twenties .Dad said boy there is a lesson in that story .You don’t mess with older gentlemen .

Good show Jimmy. I love it. I went to a NRA pistol course here once. Figured itt couldn't hurt. Anyway it was informative and I got to look over some autos that I have never handled. Then we went to the range. Real simple, obey some range rules and hit some paper plates t 7 yards. I had brought 2 guns a 36-1 and a 5 shot 44 special. I was the only revolver gun. After the first string the instructor said you have done this before. You can go anytime you want. I stayed and went through 50 rounds from each gun.

Good job representing both older human beings and older gun technology. I get comments at how good my shooting is at the range and always remark that it is not so much me but the older well made revolvers that I shoot that gets all the credit. Simply more inherent accuracy when the barrel does not move and the cartridge comes to it in its stationary location. Not to mention the looks that are garnered by a few magnum shots going off. Keep up the good work of representing.
