Actually, I have read up a good bit on that and it seems to me there are very few, if any, benefits of .357 in a snub, especially for carry - more noise, more recoil, more flash (though some ammo can help with that), barely better ballistics (again, if at all). To me the benefit of a new 649 would be the little extra weight and the shrouded hammer for SA. If I used .357 at all it would be for range and woods use, not carry. So in that sense an older 649 or 49 would likely scratch that itch.You might want to read up as to the benefit of .357 in a snub as opposed to .38+p. It might change your mind about what gun you might want to carry
