Old model 36 vs new model 649

You might want to read up as to the benefit of .357 in a snub as opposed to .38+p. It might change your mind about what gun you might want to carry
Actually, I have read up a good bit on that and it seems to me there are very few, if any, benefits of .357 in a snub, especially for carry - more noise, more recoil, more flash (though some ammo can help with that), barely better ballistics (again, if at all). To me the benefit of a new 649 would be the little extra weight and the shrouded hammer for SA. If I used .357 at all it would be for range and woods use, not carry. So in that sense an older 649 or 49 would likely scratch that itch.

My wife traded me her Colt for the 649 and loves it for HD. It is very accurate.

Actually after firing the 649, she just said "this is mine" and took it. She has access to a 17 shot 9 mm, but completely dislikes it due to having to rack the slide.

I really enjoy the design of the gun, but it is too heavy for day to day carry in my mind.
