Can anybody clarify if it is legal to open carry an fully automatic rifle or short barreled rifle in the state of texas? Of course with your stamp and id. If so how about a destructive device?

Open carry in Texas is not legal. Hunting would be an exception, but I don't believe it's legal to hunt with class 3 in Texas.

Yes correct, for handguns it is illegal. You can lawfully open carry a rifle or shotgun. It has to be carried in a non threatening way and be visible from 3 angles.

What is this stamp of which you speak? A couple of buddies of mine are LEO's in the Plano area and they both agree with what has been said above but not familiar with a "stamp". It is legal to walk down the sidewalk toting a long gun, but you might draw some attention in some of the snarky places around here.

Why would you want to carry a destructive device? That sounds a bit strange. Maybe you could clarify.

Dont mean to thread-jack, but is it legal to open carry a handgun while hunting? I read all the replies, but nothing too specific. It would be on private land (leased) with either a Taurus Judge or Ruger Blackhawk. It would not be in Bow season.

Whenver you buy a class 3 item you have the little stamp you paid 200 dollars for. What i mean though is, is it legal to carry a short barreled rifle(class 3) rifle. A destruction device could be some sort of automatic shotgun, or an short barreled shotgun. I wouldn't really do these, i would just like to see how far i can stretch my rights.

Yes, you can open carry a handgun without a licence on your own land. It would be up to the the land owner. In texas i have hunted many hogs with a .357 and a .45. They are pests so im sure anything goes

Why in the world would one want to open carry a Class 3/Destructive device? What point would that make, and what good will can be spread with such an action? I really don't get it......

Not to sidetrack but what constitutes a class 3
weapon? I am not familiar with those
classifications.

Neither do I.

You must exercise your rights or you will lose them. Its like a muscle, you worked really hard to gain them and once you reach your desired build you stop. Once you quit working out for a long period of time you lose muscle. You get what im saying?

Open carry of full autos won't do a lot to protect our rights.
