I'm looking at a 1905 4th change in nickel. Asking price is $450. Is that reasonable for this gun? S/N is 429XXX

I agree with H Richard
This is a pretty nice looking early- to mid-1920s, nickeled M&P with the 5" barrel. Everything looks good and original. If you can get it for $400, great. I would not pass on it for a mere $50 more.

Probable date on this one is between mid-1922 and mid-1927.

Sorry. Just saw that you posted the serial number. I was going by features only. So the shipping is closer to 1923-24. Still in the range I suggested, but at the lower end.

Thanks everyone, I was thinking $400ish. I'm not a huge fan of nickel, but I think that gun looks good. It seems to be a good compromise between shiny "chrome" and a finish that is worn out. Are the grips correct?

Are the grips correct?

Yes, they are. And they look pretty nice, too.

The 5" barrel is one thing that makes this gun attractive. I find these point a lot better than the 4". It is my preferred length in a K frame revolver. I have several and I like them a lot!

The short front sight on this revolver made me wonder if it was a 32-20 or a 38 spl; but its sn is well above that of the 32-20's (ended at 144684; just looked it up in SCSW). However, that does raise the possibility that the front sight may have been messed with, which could be a negotiation point (or a deal breaker). -S2
