Picked up an airweight, 3 inch bbl., factory nickled something the other day. The model stamp under the crane has been stamped mdl. 36 then a 7 stamped over the 6. In almost fifty years of collecting, shooting, and carrying Smiths almost daily I've never seen one marked this way. Any comment appreciated.

It happens quite often and it has been documented here on the forum quite often over time. They have no extra collector value unless you find someone who likes sorta oddball type markings.

I have a no dash 66 that is the same way except a 6 stamped over a 7.

I have a M-68 that is overstamped on a M-66 frame.
