I don't know what came over me but I placed a " best offer " on a pact bbk scale and the seller took me up on it. I did not figure I'd win it ....... but I did. Anyone have any input on these scales?

I have one of the Pact scales, had it for about 6 years now. I thought that it would be a good scale, but it has been somewhat of a pain.
It was not functioning properly, so I called Pact, they said that the reasons my scale was acting up is because 1) I have flourescent lighting, the scale doesn't like that.
2) I use a cell phone near it, it doesn't like that either.
So I tried using the scale without the lights and my cell phone away from the area. Problem solved. However, the AC adapter has to have almost a dedicated outlet as it will make the scale fluctuate if not. I switched to the 9v battery, again, problem solved. Keep fresh batteries handy though as it goes through them fairly rapidly.
One other thing, it needs to 'warm-up' once turned on for a few minutes, the issue there is if it's left on too long, it shuts itself off, which is a good feature to save battery life, but bad if you take too long to use it and it shuts off before you make your first weigh.
I also still have a balance scale to verify the electronic Pact every once in awhile.

Guess the thing will be more or less useless to me then. My shop/reloading building is completely lit by flourescent lighting. I can give it it's own circuit if plugged in though. I wired outlets all across my bench on a circuit of it's own for running whatever benchtop power tools I need to use. If the scale is the only thing in use, it will have a dedicated circuit.

I got the scale yesterday and did some loading with it today. It mirrors my beam scale for the most part but you do have to watch the thing pretty closely. I had to recalibrate it a couple of times during the loading session. If the weight is off from what my measure is supposed to be throwing I then weigh the charge on the beam scale to verify that it is in fact the correct charge. More often than not, the scale was right and the charge thrown by the measure was off. Still in all ...... I wouldn't recommend the scale unless you got it for cheap like I did.

Yup, they are a little finicky, but I would surmise that all electronics are.........but I've only dealt with this brand so far!

The pact scale really is pretty accurate .... I still prefer to back it up with a beam scale occasionally. Especially if I weigh a charge on it that varies from my intended charge weight. I'm using unique powder right now so it's usually the measure throwing an inconsistent charge and not the scale at fault. It is off ocasionally though so I like to have that extra scale to make sure in which piece of equipment the error lies.
