Try the white and gold stuff they used to fill in writing and engravings on guns back in the 80s.
I like cheif38's solution with one minor change.
I'd go to a hobby store and buy a paint pen.
Much easier to control filling in the grooves than a paint brush.

I use a jeweler's loupe to read the microscopic numbers on watch mini wafer batteries.
Might work on a safe's lock.
