I didn't see any information in the article about the young man's plans for college, or whether he was just starting to turn his life around.
Or an aspiring (expiring) rap artist.

But, that is also a sad part of the story. Grandma was probably trying after kid was dumped by dead beat birthing person and sperm donor.

Just like other career choices like electric lineman, firefighter, construction worker, etc., choosing to be a thug has it's inherent job risks.
There are some cynical comments in this thread.
Technically, there was both a flash and a bang. I don't know about any ouches from the guy who got shot.

As I recall, it was George Bernard Shaw who said that "The art of accurate perception is called cynicism by those who have not got it".
My bet is that you can and have made a few comments of such nature yourself.

The world has proved itself a pretty cynical place lately. How and why I won't pretend to know 100% or debate, but I see few signs of it getting better.
I happen to agree with others that it is a shame the guy pulled his shot low...or was it high?

Don't be so fast to judge. Put yourself in the shooter's situation-I'd say under the circumstances he did good to hit the guy. He ended the confrontation and stopped the threat problem solved-just because the perp ain't dead doesn't mean the problem wasn't solved.

As it should be. There is a new generation of semi-feral thugs coming up, and the more the herd can be culled, the better.
If this sort of thing happened more often, I think we'd have far less violent crime in this country...
