Good morning, all.

I apologize up front for this rather long post.

After several day of waiting I finally got to take a gander at a 6906 a gentleman had listed. We met yesterday and I was able to take a good look at it and I liked what I saw. Square trigger guard that I prefer, no Novaks, but I am fine with the standard sights. I'd have liked to have the original box but that's a just a quirk of mine. I'd rate the pistol at very good with only a few marks on the right hand side of the slide below the front sight being the only detractors.

The gentleman stated he was selling the pistol for an elderly friend of his who had bought the 6906 for her husband some time in the 90s. Her husband had passed away and she is unable to work the action so she has switched to a revolver. Although he could not confirm a definite round count, the seller gladly admitted he had fired at least 100 rounds through the 6906 with no issues to test the action and magazine feeding.

Everything looked good so I said I'd take it. I pay the seller and start to take the pistol when he hands me a small pistol case and a Bianchi holster at no extra charge. I thought that was a pretty nice gesture. The case is a simple two pistol and I can always find a use for them. The holster is a simple IWB with a clip. Nothing extravagant but it fits the square trigger guard and that's good enough for me.

Even though the seller advised me he had given the pistol a thorough clean and lube I thought it best when I got home to strip it and do those things myself. It was clean, no doubt, and to my eye appears to have a fairly low round count. He seemed to have been a bit free with the oil, though, and had even oiled the magazines. A bit of time with alcohol, microfiber rags, and Ballistol had the 6906 where I wanted it.

I went to my mom and dad's and put some 115 grain FMJ and 124 grain JHP through a few milk jugs and coffee cans. The 6906 handled both with aplomb. With everything looking good I holstered up and carried the rest of the day. The Bianchi does not have a reinforced mouth so holstering isn't especially easy, but it's quite comfortable and stays in place.

All in all I am quite happy with the purchase and the 6906 has joined my carry rotation.

Take care.

Congrats on your purchase. Although my want list is long, the 6906 is likely my next purchase.

And you didn't post any pics because, why??

From the moment I sold my 6906 years ago I have missed it. Always thought about replacing it, kept putting it off, went through a polymer phase, now back into alloy/steel. Plastic just doesn't appeal to me.

If you've never tried a 6906 I recommend giving one a whirl if you can. They're easy to carry, and easy to shoot.

Take care.

The primary reason is I still have yet to figure out how to get pictures to post. I suspect I need to employ the services of my lovely wife as she is the brains of our dynamic duo. :)

Take care.

Made a mistake by selling one over a year ago... I purchased as a "police trade in" (fired very little) for under $350.00. The piece fired exceptionally well, was very accurate, and fit in virtually every glock 19/17 holster I had. It also concealed good with not a lot a weight with full mag.

Enjoy!

Handled one at the fun show yesterday. Despite having "girlie" hands, IDK that the larger grip of the 6906 didn't feel better than my 3913. I don't think it would be all that much harder to conceal with the higher capacity a plus.

For something smaller than the 3913, I'm considering something like a CS9 or XDs.

Best

the 6906 is probably my favorite 3rd. gen....scwv67 was that 6906 at the Dayton show and if it was.....was the price right...headed there today :D

When I first became a cop in 1991 I was issued a 6906 Stainless. We went to G22 a couple of years later and had the chance to buy ours for $350 w/ our 3 magazines. Since I had a G17 at home I didn't want to spend the money for a metal 9mm. (I was drinking the koolaid I guess). It must have taken all of a week for me to start kicking myself for not buying it. It is a great pistol, small, and concealable with a good round count. Getting one is defiantly on my gun bucket list!

My favorite "hi-cap" compact pistol since .......... they were first introduced!!!! Over the years...... acquired a back up to my back up....just in case!!!!!!!

Tried Glock 19s but ....... no joy.

I'm fortunate to be acquainted with several young LEOs locally and to occasionally shoot with them. Unless they come from a military background, almost all their training has been with plastic striker-fired guns. When they shoot any of my 3rd gen Smiths, these kids are amazed. Crisp SA triggers, control, and comfort make these youngsters sit up and take notice. My 6906 is a particular favorite, although one comely lass hinted that if I could be persuaded to part with a CS9, she'd be very grateful. Ah, to be fifty again:)
It's experiences like these that make me appreciate the 3Gs.

Like mine . Feeds any ammo without a problem. Really like the size and weight. I bought the spacer sleeves from S&W and use the 15 round 59 series magazines in mine. Adds a little length to the grip.

I went through a polymer stage that lasted many years. The last year or so I began to miss metal and wood, and in the last few months I have slowly sold off my polymer guns with no regrets whatsoever. :D

I know of only one compact I enjoy more than my 6906 and that is my CZ 2075 RAMI, but that's not really a fair comparison as the RAMI is more subcompact. A shade lighter and shorter which makes it easier to conceal. The RAMI aside, however, there is no other compact that I enjoy carrying and shooting more than the 6906. This is actually my second one and I confess a third may be in my future.

It's times like that I realize I was just born 30 years TOO soon :D

I have a 6906 also, but I mainly carry my 469 which is basically the same. It is a 2nd gen in black with different sights.

I found this one NIB two years ago..
Came with 10 round mags..found 3 brand new 12 round LE stamped mags at a gun show three weeks after I bought it.

It's in my carry rotation with a Don Hume Model 715 IWB holster
Accurate and stone cold reliable pistol. No doubt.

i have the 6904 bought it way back nib.... best shooter of all my 9mm...
