Well, I got back from the convention yesterday but I was bombarded by the kiddos so I didn't get a chance to post pics. All in all the convention was pretty cool. I met up with SparkGap and 2000Z-71 Friday night for a couple of drinks. I didn't think about it while we were there to get a picture. But I did get some good pics.
I was waiting by the rear door at 10 Friday when it opened. I rushed straight in to see the SWCA booth and here are the pics:
I have to say I was a little dissapointed because I was expecting to see some fine wheel guns. But, the display was still very nicely set up and I did enjoy to SMGs.
A couple of booths down I came up to the Remington Rifle Canes booth. I didn't know any major firearms manufacturer ever made those:
I cruised, err hobbled, around for a couple more isles until I stumbled on these two beauties at the EAA booth.
They took pity on me for the cast so they let me take a picture with them and when it was time to throw T-Shirts they just handed me one because I couldn't jump for it.
Next I wandered down to the S&W area. I couldn't really get a good picture of the whole thing because it was so big. While checking out all they had to off I stumbled on this old guy so was nice enough to allow a photo:
After that, I came up on the Dillon booth. I was hoping that they would have a bunch of their calendar girls there but the booth was staffed by men.
But, there was Cathy there for photos and signing calendars that were all of her. They were for her fundraising effort for wounded warriors. I had to get another shameless picture:
The absolutely coolest modern gun I seen there was the Krieghoff Semprio. It can be seen on their website here. The gist of it is, it's a pump action type rifle but the whole front of the rifle moves forward to cycle the next round instead of just the handguard being "pumped" to the rear. The rep said it's like a bolt action without the bolt. I tried to get a video of it in action but it didn't come out so here's my one picture of it open:
That was all the good pics I got the first day. I tried to get some from up hgh but the only vendor that would allow me on top of their area was Taurus and they had their logo all around the glass so I couldn't see much. I stopped in at the LaserMax booth where one of my former commanding officers and Sergeant Major now work. LaserMax is based in the great state of NY and both of them said that when I retire in 6 years I could get a job there or they both have great ties with Harris Corp and another communications company up there. I'm already tempted to move back there and their offers just help. After that I made my way over to the Sheraton to meet up with SG and 2000Z. After a couple of drinks we parted ways and I hobbled back to the hotel for the night. My left calf was sore as heck from being up walking around nearly 12 hours.
The next morning I made my way back to the convention center. As soon as the door opened I made a beeline for the Glock booth. No, it wasn't to see a special Glock. R. Lee Ermy was there signing pictures of himself. I was third in line when he arrived. I got a signed picture and then had his assistant take a picture of us as well:
Then, I went over to the North Ball room for the Annual Members Meeting. When I walked in, Wayne LaPierre was walking around shaking hands.
One of the first parts of the meeting was the recognition of the youngest and oldest life members present. The youngest was this little guy who was just born last year:
The meeting was pretty cool with lots of energy flowing when John Siegler, Wayne LaPierre and Chris Cox did their speeches.
I spent the rest of Saturday touring Pheonix and the surrounding areas. I went to the Dillon showroom hoping for a tour but they didn't have anyone available to do a tour because of the show and it was 30 minutes before closing. I also checked out a couple of gun stores. The only gun I was relatively interested in was a Model 53 with the inserts. They wanted $995 for it. I didn't even have them pull it out of the case for fear I might have to buy it. From my view it looked to be in really great shape.
