I have a nickel gun where the former owner thought it would be really cool to gold plate the hammer, trigger and sights. I replaced hammer, trigger and back sight. Now need to fix the front. Stripped it and blued it but it's not right, it needs black. What works to replicate the original look. Something like black Blue Wonder or would a coating be better. Thanks

I don't know which particular S&W handgun you have, but S&W typically nickel plated the front sight on their nickel handguns.

I just did a simple sight blade by polishing on crocus cloth, heating just short of red and dunking in linseed oil. It did a dark almost black color to it.
I like all my guns to have simple black blades. No ramp with color inserts or plain ramps that get shine on top from holster wear.
