Plug for the hole :D

The hole in my 642 was plugged by the lock, minus the internal guts.

Looks good. I would buy a couple. Nickel for a Model 642 and stainless for a Model 60. I've been thinking about removing the locks.

I'd like to have one that looks like a countersunk screw head in stainless that would fit flush except for the slot for a straight screw driver.

Hell, yes. They'd sell like crazy. I know I would want two stainless and one blue. As someone said earlier, a filler for the flag slot would only add to it's appeal.

I'm going to install a grease-gun zerk in my safety hole and that way I can use it to lubricate the gun with chassis grease as needed.

Thanks to everyone that replyed. Went to gun show in Dayton Ohio this weekend and I had to work today. I haven't made one with a screw slot in it yet. I not total setup yet, but I should have a few in the next week. I will contact as you fall in the list. Takes a little over a hour to make one, so I don't know what to charge yet, but should be $25 dollars or less shipped. Thanks again , and I think I have a cure for the other part of the lock too on filling the flag space.

That looks good to me. I think I prefer it without a slot.

I'll buy one for my 329. Right now it has a piece of scotch tape covering the hole. Could you not make a self threading screw- seems that would work well on the aluminum ?
I wish my gunsmith and I knew you could just take the flag out and leave the rest.

I bet as soon as S&W sees how many you sell they will come out with a retro fit kit to plug the hole that shouldn't be there in the first place. They might even start making more holes all over the frame and then sell kits to plug them

I like the way it looks without a slot also! And I'd get one!

But, I have a question; my 642-2 still has the key mechanism, but the locking mechanism is gone. When I removed it it left a small hole directly behind the key mech. and just above the Hogue Bantam grips. Can we plug that one also??
