Pop Tarts

I remember when we first began our military operations in Afghanistan. We were airdropping food to some hungry farmers and Popp Tarts were included. I remember one farmer saying that his family and goats would not eat the Pop Tarts, but his mule/donkey would.

Thanks Snubbyfan for revealing the nutritional values. After consuming the remaining brown sugar cinnamon Pop Tarts from my pantry, I’ll try and refrain from purchasing more. Now I’ll have to find something else to do with a gallon of milk.
 
Tastes vary considerably. Pop Tarts were nasty in the '60s when they came out (I think it was the '60s !). It would take a mighty hunger to indulge today as I doubt they've improved.
I tried one pop tart and thought why do people eat these things. About 1/2 oz of filling and 3 or 4 oz of dry pastry. One is all I have ever eaten and all I ever wanted.

A properly oven-toasted frosted cinnamon brown sugar Pop Tart is the pinnacle of Pop Tart cuisine.

They can be consumed unheated, but it diminishes the enjoyment. Frosted strawberry may be substituted when cinnamon brown sugar is not available.

I keep a box at home for a quick breakfast and one in the office if I'm running a bit late. I prefer strawberry.
Toss them into the Ninja Turbo for a couple minutes and I'm good to go. However, they seem to be quite a bit smaller and thinner than I remember from my HS days. What's up with that?:confused:

It's a tough world we live in. The only true poptart flavors are cinnamon sugar, strawberry, and blueberry, peace be upon them.
 
The only pop tarts I eat are Trader Joe's.

They are organic, and while nowhere near healthy, they are better than the Kellogg's.

The Strawberry is very good. and the seasonal pumpkin is excellent.

Mrs. QD67 and I have to make a Danbury trip in the near future.

Mix it with this stuff.


We use skim milk and it's 200 calories with 32 grams of protein.
 
I love a Pop Tart and still eat them to this day. Nothing better at times with a big glass of cold milk. No offense to all you beer and wine guys.

The Chocolate Fudge are my favorite but I do really like a Blueberry Frosted at times.

I recently tried an Apple (limited one) and with some toasting and butter is pretty good.

I can go cold or toasted depending on the circumstances but prefer the toasted.
 
Folks in this thread are waaay too concerned about the Nutritional Value of Poptarts.

Honestly, nobody eats Poptarts because they're extremely nutritious, they eat them because they're quick, easy, convenient, and because they taste good to them.

Besides, there are a lot of foods that are more fattening and less nutritious than Poptarts, foods that I'll wager that many of you folks who've been calling out Poptarts lack of nutrition eat.
 
College roomie was an advertising major. He came home one day from class with pre-intro Pop Tarts. Idea was to help prof and Kellogg to whip up some advertising copy on the cheap. Four of us tried them, and found them disgusting, like frosted cardboard. See what we knew?
 
Haven't had a Pop Tart since I retired at the end of 2002, but they were my go-to snack when I was working patrol and later on in my office. I always brought my own coffee with me to work in a thermos that my wife had found, unused, at a yard sale. Fifty cents. And guaranteed for life, so I eventually got a new one free when the first one sprung a leak. Man, was I cheap back then. She still is.
 
My late son, David, lived on Pop Tarts from the time he was 13.....until he nearly burned the house down. He put 'em in the toaster as usual and turned his back on it. I walked into the kitchen just in time to see the fLames coming out of the toaster and reaching the bottom of the overhead cabinets. I ran over and unplugged the toaster slapped and slapped it into the sink. The only harm done was to the toaster.

We got us a new toaster and a new rule...NO MORE POP TARTS.
 
This thread is giving me serious Poptart cravings now... I ate Cinnamon Poptarts for breakfast again this morning and had to resist the urge to have them again for lunch. I just keep thinking of all the different flavors, but right now all I have are Cinnamon Poptarts.

You know what I miss? Wild Berry Poptarts. I haven't had one of those in ages, and as far as I know they don't make them anymore, but man did I enjoy those back in the 90s.
 
I've had my fair share of Pop Tarts. The Cookies & Cream flavor is pretty good, but non-frosted strawberry is my favorite. Don't like them raw, much prefer them right out of the toaster lightly toasted.
 
I don’t remember if it was a Pop Tart flavor or another brand of the same type product, but when I was a kid I liked the Concord grape flavor. Pre diabetes it was brown sugar cinnamon. They must be eaten toasted. IMO.
