Thanks to all who shared positive thoughts. My son came through the procedure with flying colors and hungry.

3 blocked arteries, 1 @ 100%, 1 @ 95% and one at 75%. The Dr said it was very serious, if he had not mentioned difficulty breathing during his physical last week he would not have lasted much longer. The total blockage had already started healing by making new paths with smaller arteries. They did a stent on the 75% one which is the one that supplied blood to the heart muscles and there was no damage to the heart. They put him on meds to remove the plaque on the 3rd artery. He sees the Doc in 6 weeks. He is on light duty for the next 5 days.

He wants out of the hospital so can go crappy fishing.

I told him you folks had sent prayers for him. He said thanks to you guys.

And I too say thanks.

I'm in bit of a funk. Two days ago my son called saying he just came back from the Drs office and testing. 3 bad blocked arteries at the heart valves. Surgery this coming Monday.

My only son is an outstanding father and person. He is a hard worker, he manages a large injection plant. He was in the Marines and did the original Desert Storm to free Kuwait. For those of you that remember it was on the tube 24/7 start to end. I had trouble sleeping and watched too much of it. I did see him on a newscast after it was over, he was asleep on the hood of a Hum Vee. From the time they went through the breach that was the first time I knew he made it. I slept that night.

My son is 45 and now I have to watch this. I know he will be ok.

This isn't for me, it is for my son. If any one has a word to say for him please do. He was a good Marine, he is a great father and son. Thanks, Aggie.

At 45, he's young. As a Dad I can only imagine what you're all going through.

He does have his youth working for him as well though! Hang in there Dad... As you said, "I know he will be ok."

My brother had this done in April. He recovered quickly without complications and is fine now.

I'll pray that your son fares as well. :)

Good Luck to Dad and Son

Bypass surgery is very common today and the risks have been greatly reduced.

I'm very confident that your son will make a full recovery and go back to a productive life. If anything, his unusually young age for this type of surgery may work in his favor as his recovery should be quicker.

Although not mentioned, it appears that your son may need to make some life choices regarding personal habits. If he is a smoker, this may be his first very serious warning that he must amend his ways.

My best wishes for a full recovery for your son and for all those family members and friends who love him.

Prayers for both your son as well as your entire family. As said above the docs know what they are doing and I am sure your son will come thru fine. All my very best from one father to another, Joe.

It happens.
Things in your son's favor.
He is young in good shape and apparantly has no damage to the heart muscle. The situation was caught in time. The operation today is a breeze (as much as this can be)-you want the guy who lines them up on a Monday Morning like a proctologist lines up colonoscopies.. That is because these guys can do them almost in their sleep and are supremely prepared for any emergency and have a staff that is as good as they are.
Finally, he is from your accounts a self disciplined Marine which means he will follow rehab to a T and will no doubt never have anothe rproblem after about 6 months. One thing though dad, at his age with those blockages, this appears to be heredity with regard to the plaque. How are you (or his mom) doing with your heart health? Might want to get up in the old tread mill yourselves just to be sure.
I've been trough this with a good friend, a brother in law, my mom and my brother so I know what you're going through-well no I don't cause I've never gone through it with my son-but it WILL be ok.
