Update on "Piggy Chips"

My spy has alerted me that a new controversy rages, at the board of directors meetings, of the "Piggy Chips" co. It was first decided, to add, the indigenous ingredient, Amaranthus, or Amaranthacesa, better known as (Pigweed), along with the other afore mentioned ingredients. Extensive research revealed that Amaranthacesa, or Armaranthus, (Pigweed), has become almost extinct, through the use of pesticides, used by agriculturists, and not readily obtainable. An extensive search goes on for a readily obtainable substitute.
I will keep you updated as new information reaches me.

When I was in England for college for a semester, I was amazed at the different flavors they had their.....way before a lot of them migrated here.

I recall one at the time that I thought was disgusting 'chicken flavor'. A friend let me try a few..."not bad".

I'd try those Worcestershire (pronounced: Wusster) chips, too ! !

I do like potato chips. Mostly just the plain ones, but occasionally flavors like Sour Cream & Onion or Barbecue. next time I'm at the store I may just pick up a couple bags of the newer flavors just to try.
I usually try to limit my intake to meals. They go along with a sandwich or burger just fine.
I try not to eat them as a snack. Because far too often trying to just have a few as a snack leads to an empty bag.

So how come nobody has mentioned Doritos? I like those too. But just the original, don't care for the other flavors. When my boys were growing up, a bag of them wouldn't last 5 minutes.

And what about Cheetos? For me there ain't nothing better with a chili dog. ;) But only the crunchy ones. The puffed one are nothing but air.

My son is a "Flavorist", mixes chemicals so they taste like whatever. He came home one Christmas with what looked like a liquor bottle with a hand written label that said "lemon cookies". It looked like egg nog. It tasted just like eating lemon cookies.

New one

I was on hand this morning, to see a new type of chips discovered. They are completely remodeling our Kroger store, and that includes moving racks, and products, and chiseling up floor tile, and putting the debris into bags for disposal. I watched a chip lover pick up a bag of floor sweepings, which contained floor tile debris, and potato chips from a torn spilled bag, of unknown type, and walk away carrying it, while happily, telling her companion that she had discovered a new type of chips to try. I'm sure she will be delighted with her new discovery.

Apparently so, but I haven't seen a dealer in several years. One used to set up in the parking lot of a local strip mall, but not for some time . . .

The Charles Chips trucks used to be a familiar sight. But now that you mention it, I can't remember the last time I saw one. One would come through the neighborhood on a regular basis...they had a well-established customer base. And the chips were just as good or better than Frito-Lay or any other big name brand. I think the drivers had an established route...sort of like the milk men.

The brand was eco-friendly as well. Customers could turn in those big cans and they'd be reused or recycled. And in between times of turning them in, they were used by aspiring drummers to practice on.

I guess they're still in business, according to that link. Maybe changed their marketing model to fit with the times.

But note on the side of the truck pictured below: Free Delivery!

"Piggy Chip" update

The "Piggy Chip", Exc. Board meeting turmoil, has reached a fever pitch, as reported by my spy. In the board's quest for authenticity, it was decided that pigs do not have toenails, but in fact have hooves. so, the term "Toenails" couldn't be used legally at all. The term "Hooves", is now being thoroughly investigated. updates will be posted as soon as I receive them. More serious thought, and planning goes into creating a new potato chip, than one might think.

Apology

I feel that I owe the folks on this forum an apology. I tried to inject a little humor into the Forum, with a little "spoofing", and "Leg pulling", on this Potato Chip thread. Well, it seems like it went over like a "Lead balloon", and I've made a donkey of myself again. Rest assured that this forum will be spared my questionable humor in the future.
