Potato chips

"I remember as a kid the Charlie’s Chip guy would come around, use to sell all kinds of goodies and their chips were pretty good. Haven’t seen them around here in years"

I think CC also had cookies, but we didn't ever get any of them. We were addicted to the CC pretzels, never had any others which were as good, just the perfect texture and a buttery taste. At that time, Maryland had no state tax on beer, and it was about the same price as soda pop. For some reason, the Maryland liquor stores carried many brands of beer from out of state, and we also had a local brewery in town (Old German). The local product was the most expensive so I didn't drink it. I went through a lot of CC pretzels and Pennsylvania and Ohio beer back then.

Here on the right side of the U.S., there's a brand (originally out of Maine) called Humpty Dumpty.
I think they invented the Ketchup flavored chip. There are some neat flavors, besides ketchup. Dill pickle for one.
They are loaded with salt and utterly addictive.
They don't distribute this far South. (CT)
I purposely didn't let on that I was going on vacation to VT.
I would had to have fit a case in the car.

Update

It's rumored, that a potato chip maker In nearby Columbus OH, is developing, with intentions of marketing, a new potato Chip, called the "Piggy Chip" They are to be all ridges, and contain Piggy parts, the Lips, snouts, ears, eyelids, and toe nails. Rumor has it, that their sales will be aimed at the health food folks,. Bad health, folks, that is. Since the select ingredients are considered extremely unhealthy, and their taste highly questionable, their consumption will most likely be a "One Shot Munch", with a theme, such as "A Little Dab'll Do Ya". Bear in mind, this is just a rumor. From one Chip lover to another.

"Update" My spy, in that un-disclosed Columbus potato chip co., has just revealed the latest, secret ingredient, to be added to the other ingredients, in the new "Piggy Chip". That ingredient is, the Pig's tails, including the hair. The nutritional, and taste value, has yet to be determined. I will keep you updated on their progress, as I receive my spy's reports. Bear in mind, this still just a rumor. Chubbo

That sounds awful! I tried the biscuits and gravy chips, didn't care for it all and I love biscuits and gravy. Even this can't hold a candle to the Piggy Chip ingredients. Pita will probably want to build a grave with headstone on every pig farm in Ohio.
Or maybe a celebration.

Growing up in Western Massachusetts the chips we all ate were a brand called State Line. I have no idea if these are even still made. There was also Mausert's Maple Walnut ice cream, which to this day is the best I ever had, but I do believe that's long gone along with Sand Spring sodas.

The grocery store where I go has the generic store brand potato chips. They are half the price of the name brand stuff and taste a lot better. Except for the Italian Sausage flavor chips. Those are just gross.

I wonder if Charles Chips are still around? When we lived in Western Maryland the Charley Chips guy would deliver large cans of pretzels and potato chips to your door weekly, like milk delivery was done at that time. Imagine milk delivery today. The CC pretzels were great. I think CC was located somewhere in PA.

They have them at Shady Maple in East Earl, Pa. Small cans and bags. Haven't seen the big cans in a long time.

If you get a chance to try Grippo's Bar-B-Q, they are great. they are hot though, have a cold beverage handy. They are sold in south Indiana, but don't know if it is a regional product, or not.

I'm not supposed to eat regular chips due to the salt--bad for my CHF. But I found Kettle unsalted potato chips at Kroger. I sprinkle them lightly with a good salt substitute, and they're quite decent.

My wife has found a new chip which she has fallen in love with. It is made from sweet potatoes! She doesn't have to worry about not getting them all because I don't like sweet potatoes.

I don't like the flavored regular potato chips because the flavoring adds so much salt, they are uneatable. Wavy chips and dip made from sour cream and dry onion soup is the only way I'll eat chips.

For those who like a little sweet with their salt.

Hard for me to imagine how a Gravy N Biscuit chip wouldn’t taste good. IF I see them I’d try. Had a Girlfriend who was a regional sales manager for Snyder’s - Lance (Cape Cod potato chips and Snyder’s Pretzels, among other things. Couple times a year she’d get tons of samples of all the new “test flavors” before they decided which ones would hit the market. Boy did I enjoy providing my input. Some flavors never made it that I wished had.

I eat so many potato chips at night, I usually go to bed like a "beached whale" (can't even turn over because I'm so full of them). :D:D

Pretty sure I saw Charles Chip at my local CrackerBarrel.
When we were kids my grandpas always had cans of Charles Chips around his house. Only troubl was being he had high blood pressure he bought unsalted. Blechh!
I prefer Wise. They make a less salt variety. If they made such a thing as extra salt I’d buy ‘em.
My wife’s family has a secret recipe dill pickle dip. I’ve never had anyone that likes dill pickles not like this dip.
