Prettiest singers of the 1970's...

Pretty sure I know why you did not take this thread into the 80's.

Top 3 - Linda, Grace & Stevie. Bet almost everyone knows them without having to say their last names :-)

Pretty went out of style in the 80's. Not a good time in a lot of ways.

I actually like a lot of the music. I turned 30 in the mid 80s and a lot of it stuck with me. And Reagan was president for 8 years......

See post 31, where I ask.........

You know, no one has called out Emmylou Harris!
So I officially will. Gorgeous, voice like an angel.
I've loved her since her days with Gram Parsons.
As a friend once said about Emmylou, " I'd love to see her in my kitchen baking up a batch of biscuits..."

....."Has anybody here mentioned Emmylou Harris?":D

Bobbie Gentry

Bobbie Gentry wasn't bad. And I liked her voice. Beside "Ode to Billy Joe", I think I first heard her duet with Glen Campbell "Let it be me", which I RELLY liked. At the end of the 70's though, she stopped performing.

Though mostly unison, the arrangement with the oboes makes me nuts.

Cass's autopsy said.....

If only Momma Cass had given Karen Carpenter that sandwich ......:(:(:(

The ham sandwich was a preliminary observation due to a partially eaten sandwich and the autopsy said a heart attack was to blame. What WAS weird though is the she was in Harry Nilsson's London apartment while he was away and later Keith Moon died in the same apartment. The moral of this story is, if somebody tells you you can borrow Harry's apartment, better stay at the Howard Johnson's.

BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER.

Talent goes bone deep, therefore Carol King (how many decades making huge hits?), Dolly Parton, Joanie Mitchell.... A favorite performance among many great ones at Kutztown Pa stompin 76 was Bonnie Raitt. My Annie Haslam story (Renaissance) , she played at my college. A tiny thing easy on the eyes but a diva with an attitude. Granted the college circuit must have been grueling & the venue primitive cold & damp but she was demanding. During her show she sang a run & proclaims "how's that for holding a note?", well one of our better (drunk) singers yells out "I could hold that note longer in the shower". She was PO'd & invited him up to show his stuff & he put her to shame. Her band broke up (tired of her behavior no doubt), she stormed off, but came back to finish her time & collect the $. Anne Murray??? reminds me of Florence Henderson, Cagney or Lacey (I get confused which is which).
