This is a proclamation from Sheriff John Rutherford of Duval County (Jacksonville), FL regarding current ongoing efforts to ban modern sporting weapons basically saying he won't enforce it.

And a proclamation from the Florida Sheriff's Association saying much the same thing.

This makes me proud to be a Florida resident.

CW thank you for sharing that. The residents of Duval County are lucky to have someone with Sheriff Rutherford's integrity on their side.

Even though I don't reside in Florida, It makes me feel good to see that elected officials are standing up for the rights of the people that they were sworn to protect. In the mean time maybe some of these proclamations will be seen by other state elected officials and give them the foresight to stand up for the people that reside in their states.

Duval County is not tiny either. Jacksonville is a big city in Duval County. Whenever I head back to South Florida on a trip to see friends or Family I drive right through Jacksonville and it always feels a bit like NYC with the bridges, water, tall buildings, and shady neighborhoods just off I-95. Most big City Police are against people's 2nd Amendment Rights so this is impressive.

Duval county is a red county along with most in Florida. So is the one I live in, Clay. The sheriffs in these county's want to be relected and they know which side their bread is buttered on. We have a lot of 2A support in N. Florida.

Sorry to say, but I doubt that our Orange County Sheriff, Jerry Demmings even thinks that we should have any 2nd Amendment rights.

Sheriff Rutherford can stay around as long as he likes if he keeps that up!!!!

I've also been told by many deputies that he stands up for them and they stand up for him right back. He seems very much loved.

Jerry's still mad that someone stole his wife's gun. For those of you not in Central Florida, when Sheriff Deming's wife was chief of Orlando PD she had her issue SIG stolen from her car in her driveway. They're both solid Obamaites.
