Protests

What are they protesting? Could it be that the Palestinians want some of their lands back and believe that they have been forgotten for decades? Until the root cause of the problem is identified, the problem will remain. A two state solution is not acceptable to the current leaders of Israel. Remember, even the thinnest pancake has two sides. I recall that the American Indians weren't real happy about getting kicked off of their lands as well. Today they are sovereign nations.

Well what happens when this goes from law enforcement to the judicial process. A "rogue''DA or judge could undo all the cops and the college administration did.

I saw this happen in Albany NY a few years ago.(The Wall Street Protests) The DA was letting them go wholesale. Talk about revolving door "justice"

Can't wait to see what happens in Chapel Hill. Some members of the Chapel Hill town council have already demanded that all charges be dropped against those who trespassed, destroyed property, engaged in disorderly conduct and obstructed law enforcement officers during their recent temper tantrums.

The university faculty council is up in arms because the interim chancellor took action when the little darlings took down the United States flag and replaced it with the Palestinian flag. They said NOTHING about the useful idiots desecrating the US Flag, they were only upset about taking down the foreign flag and appearing on the steps of the admin building with law enforcement. Make me wonder how our tax money is being spent.

Well, I have not seen any proof that universities have anything to do with the Palestinian issue. The useful idiots demand that the universities divest any holdings in Israel. Does anyone think that the university officials are specifically investing there? No, they have fund managers who are putting money where it will produce the most return.

Rioting, occupying buildings, desecrating the American Flag will have zero effect on what is going on on the opposite side of the world.

I know a number of Jordanian-Palestinians who left what is now the West Bank when they saw what was happening with Israeli 'settlements.'

Recall that the last election held in Gaza was in 2006; Hamas won control with 44% of the vote, fought a battle (the Battle of Gaza) to rid themselves of their major opponent, al Fatah, in 2007, and hasn't allowed an election since.

The Middle East is a great place for us to stay out of and take no sides.

Lest we forget - the IDF attacked (by aircraft strafing, napalming, rocketing, and motor torpedo boats torpedoing, and machine-gunning) the USS Liberty and its lifeboats June 8, 1967, killing 34 sailors and wounding 174 more. I'm simple minded. My limited intellect precludes me from understanding why anyone would paraglide across a border and slaughter men, women and babies.

Thank you for the edit...and not points! What was edited was an added afterthought, my afterthoughts get me every time.

The absolute ignorance and smugness of these people is astounding.

It is a shame how far our country has fallen. Politics aside, this is a national disgrace.

These people should just get a good old fashioned can of whup @ss and be sent on their way, by John Q. Citizen(s).

You want to support this type of garbage? Go do it over there.

I'm proud to not be some "college edu-ma-cated" twit of today.

God help our country through these times.

I know some of you are tired of me saying this, but the results are always perfect for the choices made. End of story.

When people who are "protesting" break into locked buildings destroy property and block roads bridges etc Disallow others rights and to be honest create a nuisance...they are no longer protesting. They are breaking the law...If you have a neighbor who is let's say having a loud party at night...you can call the police and they can instruct the people about the wrongs they are doing to others and hopefully getting it stopped. That is just common courtesy...not breaking the law as these people are doing...why can they not be arrested for violating others' rights and destroying property?

I find it interesting that some of the people who believe in restarting the draft are the same people who were anti mandate.

The draft is the ultimate mandate. Put your life on hold, put on this uniform, obey these orders, up to and including giving your life following them.

I am not against requiring service to the country, in fact I support it, but believe it should include EVERYONE. Last time college students, women, the rich claiming such things as "bone spurs" while golfing, bowling and playing tennis were differed . All of THAT WRONG. Why should someone going to college get a pass and some roughneck drilling for oil or working in a steel mill not? What is equal about drafting men and not women? Why were the rich more able to avoid service than the poor?

Either everyone or no one.

Since you brought up Kent State...

I see shades of Kent State. I haven't heard any mention of firearms but all it would take is one loose wing nut. At least Kent State knew what they were protesting. I doubt many of the current bunch could locate Palestine or Israel on a map.

I did not attend Kent State in 1970...I attended Ohio Northern University College of Pharmacy...I did NOT attend any protests, because I was attending college to get a degree in Pharmacy...My parents helped pay my way and I know my Father and Mother would have been very disappointed in me if I was protesting anything...I was there to get an education plain and simple...As tragic as Kent State was, it is an UNDENIABLE fact that had those students NOT been protesting they would more than likely be alive today...Roger

I think what they did to the statue of George Washington says it all.

Chicago this summer should be interesting.

The pro-Palestine organizations are already suing to be allowed to picket directly outside the United Center while the DNC meets. The city wants to prevent them from blocking traffic - the tyrants.

All I know is that my daughter is set to graduate from Washington University in St. Louis during Mother's Day Weekend. So far, WashU has admirably repelled the protests. (Google for details).

What many are missing is that the college class of 2024 has been cursed since birth. I was home on paternity leave watching the planes crash into the WTC three weeks after her birth, and got called back early to work the next day. Her senior high school year was 2020, and we all know how that worked out. Now we got this.

If the graduation gets screwed up, I will be unable to restrain Ms Muggins from laying waste to the WashU campus. Fair warning . . .
