Something funny about certian people being extremely proud on where there from. If you have been in the service you know what Iam saying. I find it funny.. Example... people from Texas and another... people from West Virginia.. Sorry that's " West Virginia by God".. I 've found that people from Texas will fight if you make too much fun of there state. Iam from Indiana...see it dont bother me at all.

I can understand why you find it strange that some people are proud of where they come from.

If I were a Hoosier I might feel the same way. ;)

Hey - I'm from IN --- Gary, to be exact --- And I resemble that remark ;)
I did BCT at Knox and learned really fast to tell guys I was from the Chicago area.

EVERY TIME!
Where you from?
Gary Indiana
Please don't kill me

I'm a Buckeye by birth and all my life, and proud of it!

No military service though.

Born in Gary Indiana{steel city} City of the century.
But Iam from the Chicago region.;)

It's like when you where in the chow line and you found a home boy! sound off! Ft. Benning ga.

See.... This is what Iam talking about.

I always thought Gary was in "da region" :D

Ever since Bobby Knight got fired, when anyone asks where I live, I reply "Louisville area/Louisville north".

So what is it about Gary, Indiana that would get you beat up? Only thing I ever heard about it was it has a music conservatory, and that's where the Music Man came from.

To be on this forum and be from New York, you have to have thick skin.

Note to Dueeast....world's best pizza comes from Brooklyn! :D

Being from Ohio certainly means bragging about nothing. While in the service it was no big deal either. Think about it, what can one say positive about Ohio. I do know it pisses people off from Texas when you say it's the second largest state in the US. Alaska is hugh compared to Texas. Just stating a fact, don't get mad Tex. :D Just be glad you're not living in Ohio.

I'm from Chicago.

During the last election, I felt like an emigre German in 1938 trying to tell a clueless American, "Don't trust those guys. They're nothing but trouble."

Proud of Chicago? Hardly.

I was partly raised in Winston-Salem, NC. That was surely not a bad thing. I was also partly raised in NJ. While there were one or two good things even about that, it's not exactly something to brag about. As for MA, de mortuis nil nisi bonum.

If I were from WV, I'd probably brag, too, although they have a bit of splainin' to do about making such a big deal about VA seceding from the union, which was Constitutional, and then seceding themselves from VA, which was not.

It doesn't look like you like the receiving end of it too much, either. Me? I've lived in 8 states and a foreign country, and there's good stuff about all of them. I liked some places better than others.

As to where I'm from, if you don't like it, the road you came in on runs both directions. You're free to leave. If you don't like it, I sure as heck don't want you here whining about it. Then again, I've found that some people will whine no matter where they are.

I try not to concern myself much with what other people think. They're usually wrong anyway. :)

Well, sometimes I'm proud to be an old coon a...er I mean cajun from da bayous of Louisiana and sometimes not so proud-(think Edwin Edwards).
One thing I HAVE noticed in my travels is that of all states Texas is the one that I see more state flags flying with the US flag (and sometimes without it ) which I have always respected. So much that I fly three flags at my office-The US flag, the Louisiana State flag and the Vatican flag.
If all states showed the pride I see in Texas-I tink we would have a little less to worry about regarding the creeping spread of federalism.

Pennsylvania: birthplace of the United States and the Constitution. :) Man, I absolutely love (parts) of Philly.

This is the truth. Not to get off topic, but that thing they call pizza in Chicago... it's just wrong.

" Hoosier man born,
Hoosier man bred.
When I die,
I'll be a Hoosier man dead."

Except I now live in Arkansas

When we secede, maybe other states will join us and we can put the original Republic back together?
