Question about 10-8 ejector rod

I just ordered a new ejector rod from Numerich parts, and was wondering if there is any thing I need to do other than install the new rod? Also if I don't have access to a padded vise, can the ejector rod be removed any other way?

Might need to be fitted if to long the cyl will not open/close properly. Use some leather with your vise or make pads from plywood and old carpet.

Don't forget that it has left handed threads.

I have a set of tiny vise-grip pliers I use but I wrap the jaws with a ton of take to keep from marring the rod.
