Question? Should Gun Stores Require NRA Memberships For Purchases?

Why? The NRA has had a windfall of recent memberships in no small part to recent tragic occurrences, discounted life memberships and now want to entice more membership by sponsoring a NASCAR event.
So you oppose gun registration as being a violation of your rights but is all for a mandatory paid membership to an organization before being able to purchase a firearm........and you don't see a problem Sir?

Fishslayer,

Why not? It would seem to be a WIN/WIN situation for both parties.

Supporting a God-given right by restricting purchases to members only?

Uh, no.

What blujax said.

How about a discounted membership with purchase of a firearm?

We really don't need any more rules...

arjay,

80 million gun owners = 80 million NRA Members, now that would help

with some issues in NEW YORK, CALIFORNIA, COLORADO and ILLINOIS for starters.

ACTIVISM and a LARGE MEMBERSHIP are now becoming a necessity.

The time for FREE RIDERS has passed.

Diamondback68,

Without a FOID CARD in ILLINOIS, you can't look at or handle a firearm.

Illinois doesn't have anything that's really FREE.

I've heard of mandatory club membership for ownership in other countries. Maybe NRA membership could be our de facto registration...

You might have a bright future in California politics if you decide to go that way...

I guess it will take a Gun Shop with PRODUCT TO SELL to give it a try.

Some are bidding up a Brick of 22LR to $99.

22LR Bricks with NRA Memberships would probably sell.

Get a discount on the gun for signing up? Sure. Discounts for already being a member? Yep. No firearm sales unless your a member? Im taking my business elsewhere.

I dont agree with everything the NRA says or the way they go about doing things. If not for Obama and the latest batch of crazy liberals I would not be a member of the NRA.

Not a rule!!!! However I would think that every gun dealer would have the forms for membership on prominent display and make it a routine question to see if they would care to support the NRA. We members are always asked to do our part and sign up new members, it would seem that since it is their livelihood that this would be paramount. Maybe I've missed the displays around here but I have never been asked.
e.

Many clubs require NRA membership,as does mine. Even thought it supports the NRA, it's primarily to take advantage of the NRA insurance for clubs.

No to the OP.

But isn't our fight essentially not to become like other countries?

i know some gun stores will throw in a box of ammo if you buy a new gun, just change the lingo alittle and say if you join the nra,i'll throw in a box of ammo as well.........of course the ammo panic kinda makes it abit tuff.
